My coaster hubs go "ping"

I rebuilt 3 of them this spring, 2 New Departures and a Bendix. When I stop pedaling and coast, there's a "ping".
It's that clutch thing not releasing smoothly, right? I lubed them with grease. Maybe I should have used oil? Is there something I should have torked differently? Is something worn?
