Ebay Identification Challenge! Mystery bike with ultegra and tri-colour mix.

Hi all!

I live close enough that this bike might prove to be a good local pick up:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/SHIMANO-600-...t_11218wt_1344

I doubt big kaluha is the actual frame manufacturer. Any chance you could help me sort it out? It looks to be in rough condition.

One thing I thought might give it away is the decoration on the crown of the fork. I have never seen it before, but it looks conspicuous.

Thanks!

Someone will probably recognize the markings on the fork crown. I don't.

I can't answer your questions about the manufacturer, but I would recomend asking for a drive side picture with the front wheel in line with the frame.

From the looks of that one full bike photo, it looks like it has a bent fork. I could be wrong though.

First, this may be a tired cliché, but is that fork bent? My first thought was that it may be a Columbus frame; however, after seeing the photo of the rear drop out, I’m not so sure.

Thanks guys! I'm actually out of the country now, so it is a bit more of an identification issue. I really appreciate the help though!

I really don't think the fork is bent. It looks like the front derailleur braze-on may have been removed. The BB shell looks like what you would find on a typical Italian SLX frame.

I think the fork is fine. I also think that the "Big Kahuna" is too cool. The seller knows nothing about bikes and that could equal a great opportunity for someone. The frame size sticker was slapped on from a donor bike.

I also like this Big Kahuna, the sticker under the small "bonzai" on the fork seems to be a columbus birdy ,imo a good sign.I dont see it anywhere else on the frame though.Maybe ask some better pictures from the seller.Overall this bike looks in very good shape ,probably 90s repaint job? i would ride it 1st though us above mentioned. If you find more info post them here
A wild guess would be to be a bianchi cinelli frame, maybe a photo under the crank would provide some better info

It looks to me like the top tube is bent slightly right where it meets the head tube. Is the fork OK? Can't tell but something looks wrong to me.

I know there's a little parralax error going on but the front wheel looks overly close to the DT....again, could be parralax. I see nothing in the photos to indicate frame damamge.

Good eye, I think. Slight shadow right in front of that cable braze on. I don't think that with the fork pretty much centered in the middle of the pic frame, first pic, that parallax shift is the problem. I'd bet that bike has seen a front ender.

I like the "ATB" in the auction title, because of that mountain bike frame size sticker that someone stuck on there. Fork angle doesn't look right even accounting for camera distortion but never can tell just from pics.

Priced a too high to get it just for the parts (if frame and fork turned out to be trash). Maybe if the rims had fewer miles on 'em...

+1 I am in the bent fork camp. Really lousy angle on the pictures. I would pass. I doubt it will sell with the local pickup only option.

Trust Randy, he has seen more bikes than probably anyone else on this list.

Thanks guys, you're all too helpful!

To be honest, I probably won't be the one going to get it. I'm in Buenos Aires studying right now. My girlfriend is heading back to Canada for Christmas, so I thought she might do the the favour of picking it up. Probably too much risk now!

On an unrelated note (and not to hijack the content of this thread) there seem to be a lot of great classic and vintage bikes in Buenos Aires. Check this bizarro South American craigslist out for details: https://listado.mercadolibre.com.ar/b..._U_PciaId_AR-C

Given that all prices should be /4.5, these work out to a pretty good deal. There is a fine aluminum french alan bike buried somewhere there. Also a cool 531 carlton with vintage rollers.

Tomorrow I am going to take a look at this one:

https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/...-10cambios-_JM

Any indication of what the components might be?

Thanks!

P.S. this is not to try to take advantage of your collective knowledge, but rather for the sake of mystery bike identification. I will post pics tomorrow when she's mine!

Thanks!

Bent fork. Tire much too close to the downtube. Center line of fork blades not aligned with head tube. Even allowing for perspective.

OMG, you're crazy! Maybe sit on those tricolor bits and they'll appreciate...

Maybe frame is still OK, but with the shaved FD braze-on, ughh...

But...

He has had that listed on Kijiji for months now, and, as vjp says, it is a Cramerotti fork. I too think that the fork is bent and what is with the seat tube? Did he grind off the braze-on for the derailleur?

right, it's a Cramerotti fork, the rest of the frame: maybe.

Fork is bent don't even bother

Or maybe it's a road bike with a bit of track geometry
