She would've been quite something if alive today and riding the city bike lanes.

Don't know who that is (Jack's wife?), but she's OK with me!
I guess the candy stripes on the dress are kinda cycling specific...

Leonardo DiCaprio just passed me in the street a few minutes ago, but he was walking, not riding a bike. This is the second time I've seen him, as he is nearby. I didn't take his picture.

Happy 95th birthday to Doris Day, who is a true celebrity and cycling advocate. You can find dozens of photos of Miss Day on bicycles because she rode bicycles everyday, for health and running errands. She wasn't like most celebrities who threw a leg over a saddle only for publicity pictures. I recall a charity fashion show that she did in the early 1970s, where instead of walking down a runway, she entered the stage on a 1890s bicycle (or tricycle or quadricycle), stopped to pose, then rode off. She had a different bicycle for each outfit and there may have been about ten or twelve in total.

Here's a picture of Miss day, circa 1950 with her son, Terry Melcher, who grew up to become a prominent producer with Columbia Records. He produced records for the Mamas & Papas, Beach Boys, Glen Campbell and several others. Most importantly, he was instrumental in the early success of the Byrds, helping them develop their folk rock sound and producing their first two albums. Melcher was also the original, intended target in the Manson-Tate murders.

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. Modi, of the BJP party.

He has suggested taking one day a week to promote bicycling and his supporters have engaged in various types of cycling events to support him. Some of his cabinet ministers and BJP lawmakers have taken to riding bicycles to parliament and have been dubbed the "Bicycle Boys" by India media.

His main rival, Akhilesh Yadav, of the SP party, is not outdone on bicycles, however.

The SP party routinely engages in mass cycling campaign events.

And the SP party symbol IS a bicycle.

I think you've misinterpreted my intent. I'm fairly certain she didn't own the 1890s bicycles used in the fashion show, though undoubtedly she's owned several bicycles over the decades. She just thought it would be a unique idea to combine her love of fashion and cycling for a charity event. She just put a different spin on things (pun intended). Personally, I found it fascinating to see these bicycles outside of a static museum setting and actually being ridden. I apologize for any confusion.

Some of the scenes are riotously funny.

There is a moment where he says something like "I don't want to fight. Hell no , I don't want to fight." followed by a big WHAM.

(paraphrasing as have not seen it in forty-five years)

I don't know much about Doris Day, as her acting/singing and the films she was in never did much for me. But it sounds like she is a good down to earth person and a successful mother as well. Many happy returns Doris Day!

A day late & a dollar short, but Happy Birthday, Doris. 🙂 She was from my mother's generation, and Mom liked Doris' version of the song, "Que Sera Sera" quite a bit. I'm not sure I spelled that right, but if you knew the song, you knew what I meant. 😉

In a recent two-hour telecast examining Manson and his crime it was revealed that he knew Melcher had already moved from the house on Cielo and that the decision was made to proceed with the attack and kill anyone residing there at the time, unfortunately for those victims.
