First bike-related purchase of the New Year

Since I'm stuck inside with a cold and general malaise (not party-related, either), I've been napping and surfing on and off today. Been watching these for a few days and just won them a couple minutes ago; my first bike-related buy of the year:

What was your first bike-related purchase of 2012?

I actually bought this '83 Trek 500 frameset yesterday, so it may not qualify. I put some 700 wheels and Noodle bars on there to start getting an idea of build possibilities.

I did the same... 150 spokes and 150 nipples to go with the spokes for two wheel builds (Hercules Kestrel and Carlton Super Race). I placed the order yesterday, but since the invoice didn't arrive until this AM, I'm counting this as my first bike-related purchase of 2012.

Raleigh mixte, got it at a typical garage sale price, off C/L (guy explained he bought it at a garage sale, intending to fix it up).

Should make someone happy come this Spring.

Three bikes in two days (the other two were year end 2011 pickups).

Just ordered a seatpost and QR binder bolt to replace the ones I ***** off of my MTB to fix my nephew's. Didn't like to take my bike out of commission, but the option was to send him back home without the bike that was his Christmas present.

I saw the title of the thread and thought "Wow, these guys are hopeless!" And then remembered that a couple of short hours ago, I picked up a set of campy 8mm crank bolts on ebay to compliment a record crankset that was gifted to me. Just waiting on an FD and my cassette to come back from wheels manufacturing and I'll be ready to do this build!

I just bought this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/160690659778...84.m1497.l2649

God help me when it gets here. I am now entering a week or two of the nervous fretting that it will get partially destroyed during shipping.

Very nice!

My first bike purchase of the year: A spoke (and a few spares) to replace the tandem spoke we broke today or perhaps yesterday.

For the $600 in shipping/handling (part of the haggling), I could have simply bought it an airline ticket. Seriously, it is cheaper for me to send/recieve stuff from Europe than it is the lower 48.

I tried to buy a 1983 Lotus Eclair today off of CL, but this is the fourth time through as many listings that I haven't been able to get the guy to show it to me. What a bonehead. I guess I'll finally give up on him.

Yesterday I bought a vintage style LED flashlight and some P-clamps to mount to the front rack of a build I'm working on.
