Vintage Block Pedals
Over the past week or so, I've been working on my 1956 Hercules Royal Prince and decided I'd take my first stab at disassembling a block pedal and reassembling it. Needless to say, the pedals were pretty gnarly and needed to be degreased before I soaked the parts in phosphoric acid to remove the surface rust.
I didn't have bearings on hand to finish putting them back together, but wanted to see how they looked side-by-side. Needless to say the difference is very noticeable. With that said, I have some questions:

That looks great, wish I could help.

If I were your I would just continue restoring the pedals you have - The one on the left illustrates that they'll look just fine. I know of no place that sells the rubber inserts - and if they did, they would probably have reflectors in them like the new OEM block pedals - not very authentic. |

What I'm doing at this point is orienting the best side of the rubber to one side of the pedal in hopes of getting more use out of what is there. Meanwhile I will probably go ahead and snag a couple pairs of the other pedals as spares since I know I have some missing dust caps here and there. |
There is one eBay seller who has some without reflectors for $18 a pair. That is not too bad a price, frankly. But they don't have a nice curve to them like these pedals do. |
