1989 Schwinn Traveler

I'm not up on Schwinn's and I'm going to look at a 1989 Traveler tomorrow. The guy said it is in fantastic condition, and just wonder if they are a decent ride? It looks like it has 300ex components.

Mike,

Don't spend a lot. Basically it was Schwinn's entry level road bike in '89. It would make a decent winter bike. There are significantly better Schwinn models from that period.

Thanks! I'm just looking for something to ride when the weather turns bad. I want to try and ride as much as I can this year, and will have to ride in some wet and salty roads, and don't want to take any god bikes out. Maybe I'll look for a cheap mountain bike.

Capecodder - I'd go the MTB direction personally. You can get more bang for your buck in terms of quality and you can also ride in more conditions if you deflate the tires.
