Oops.
Welp, I'm working on getting my new one (Trek 560 Pro Series) ready to take out. I got the front tubular mounted no problem, and I got glue spread on the rear rim, but... I'm out of glue. Kind of. I *had* been using Vittoria tubular cement, of which I used all. I have half a tube of Tubasti left over from an earlier project. Is it OK to mix-n-match or will there be compatibility issues?
Common sense tells me to wait and get a new tube of Vittoria cement tomorrow. Impatience tells me to go ahead and see what happens. So I'm going to take the middle ground and see what a bunch of strangers who've no real interest in my health care premiums have to say about this.

Your house will catch fire and disappear into a thousand-foot-deep sinkhole.
Hell, I don't know. I'd let the Vittoria set up completely, then spread a thin layer of Tubasti over the whole shebang. Let set up again, then another thin layer of Tubasti. Mount tire, pump up completely, let sit. By then you'll be so tired of waiting for the glue to set that you'll buy a set of clincher wheels to relieve the pain.

I would not take a chance with potentially incompatible products. Failure, if it does occur, will likely do so at the worst possible moment, perhaps leading to a crash.
That said, I know the joy and impatience of wanting to get it done, but haste can, and sometimes does, make waste. That said, I would wait and get the glue that I know for sure will do the job.

Honestly given the choice, I'd use Tufo tape. We have Panasonic wet glue, and Tufo tape at our shop. The tape is SO much easier to deal with, and is incredibly strong.,,,,BD

I'm in a similar situation, I have a tire to glue on, and only 1/2 tube of Tubasti. If you buy more glue, then I won't know if that's enough!
I could buy another tube at the LBS on my way home, but where's the suspense in that?

If I had to use glue, I wouldn't use tubulars.

Well, look at it two ways:
1-dontworryaboutit. Carry a helmet cam for a while.
If the disaster does occur, you'll be famous.
2-better safe than sorry. No cool crash video, but we'll get by.
+2 on the tape. Looks better, holds better, faster, cleaner.
costs more, but I spend $5 on stuff to get the glue off my hands.

You guys is risk averse. I would have mixed and matched for sure. I mean, how hard is it for glue to stick to glue? OK, I'm going to duck while I get flamed by the chemists. Please use small words.

So what're you going to do with the other half tube? Better not be sniffing it or we'll tell teacher.
