Checking out a Miyata - need insights
I think this Miyata is a good deal at $60, I just wanted to check with you guys if you know what model it is. I did check the catalogs and found similar looking models but none of them has internal cable routing like this one. What do you guys think this one is?

That bike appears to be a 1988 Miyata 312. Looks just like one I used to own. Great bike.

I picked up an '89 312 for $20 last week.
Of course the frame had some minor issues.

Thank you all for the replies. The Three Twelve is now in my possession! I caught the Ad about 10minutes after it was listed (this is about 10am). I promptly responded and was surprised to hear back from the seller at about 3pm saying I'm first in line and he's giving me the day to pick it up. He's about half an hour drive. It so happened though that he was going to be around my area tonight so he ended up dropping it off! Lucky! According to him, the bike must have had no more than 100kms. I dunno, but it sure doesn't look beat. It has been in his garage since so it has suffered some scratches from being moved here and there. Anyways... here are the pics. As received:
Rusted chain.. Can this still be revived with just chain oil? Let it soak for a couple weeks?
Mr. Merlin is happy to be relieved of trainer duty!
I'm pretty happy with the deal.

Great bike, better deal! I've LOVE mine and as Grim said, it should clean up very nice.
I don't know about saving that chain with just oil, but maybe some form of acid to remove the rust. Honestly, for $15 you could probably pick up a new one and save yourself the trouble. Great find. Ride it like you stole it - 'cause you did.

Congrats on your pickup!. I also recommend buying a new chain.
One of the great things about black is how easy it is to touch up any scratches.

Love the Miyata, I'm sure you will enjoy it. Nashbar has Sram pc 48 chains for 7.99, I ordered 3 yesterday.

Nice. Miyata paint is top notch with a strong double coat. Everything on that bike will clean up easily. I would also just buy a new chain. You will likely want new cable housings that are lined. If you don't have problems keeping the drive train original, then just roll with it.
Great bike!

I just gave it a good wipe yesterday. It cleaned up real nice. The original saddle had to go. I picked up a Flite Ti saddle for $20 off CL for the Merlin so this one was passed down.
It weighs almost double my Merlin, but I REALLY like this bike. I'll find a platform pedal for it as I plan it to be my go to bike, something I can just ride without putting on cycling shoes.

Nice job.
But, you're making me miss my 312.

$60? So jealous. I'd pay double that with no thought at all. Good find.
