1962? Frejus Pista - Beautiful pearl blue

Hello all. Here are some pics of a great Frejus Pista I recently acquired. Pearl-ish blue with original decals and paint in great shape.

Let me know if you all have any input.

Agreed. That is one of the easiest and most recognizable ways to ID a Frejus.

First generation Record Pista cranks as well. Quite a score there.

Agreed! I couldn't be happier. It also came with a cool, old 3ttt stem and a set of deep track drops (early aluminum).
I will give everybody fair warning if I decide to post in the "for sale" section

It was a lot of money, but still a good deal to me.

Gorgeous, the condition is amazing. It has just the right amount of patina, it must have been stored well.

There's one of these hanging in a bike shop close to here. Nearly identical. I lust after it, to kind of be the sister bike to my road version. But it'll never happen. Very cool example Grahamss210. Your description of the paint being "pearl-ish" is apt. I read somewhere, probably over on the CR list, that that distinctive Frejus blue actually got its pearly sheen from ground fish scales used in the paint. Not sure I believe that, but it's an interesting, and useless, detail.

I hope we can fairly deduce from that statement that you're not a bike messenger.

Beautiful frame.

Wow. Frejus are one of my holy grail bicycles. There's just something about them.

It certainly smells like it could be fish scales... Just kidding. I like it. It adds to the romance of the bike and the era (unless you're a fish). Thanks for the input

That is exactly the frame I have been looking for. I saw one on Ebay some time ago just like this one. Is this the one? Where did you pick it up? I was actually trying to find this frame earlier today.

Such a bike! If you think it's merely, pretty, wait'll you ride it. The looks are only part of the deal.
BTW:
The pearlescent finish was achieved with paint that contains ground fingernail clippings of beautiful Italian princesses. After curing for several months in the dark, cavernous catacombs beneath the factory, the frames are gently hand-rubbed with a live chinchilla.

I wouldn't have wanted that duty. Harvesting the finger nail clippings maybe, but the rubbing? No.
