My CL score of the year (so far) - need some Sante help!

A guy had an '80s Falcon 531 that has a severely bent frame. Shimano Sante group, but I'm not sure how complete the group is.

Front Derailleur
Rear Derailleur
Shift levers (down tube, indexed, 7 speed)
Headset
Crankset
BB
Hubs w/ skewers
Brakeset

Also had:
a Cinelli 1E stem (110mm)
Narrow SR bar
SR Laprade seatpost
Shimano 600 pedals (not exactly sure which generation, but they hav the "tri-color" colored rectangles under the "600" logo). With the 3-bolt clips. Also has some cool Christophe "Falcon" toe straps.

He also had a 1992 Trek 750 MultiTrack in pretty good shape, just old and dirty. Need tires/tubes. So now I got my wife a bike!

$50 for both.

I need to clean up the Sante stuff and sell it. The brake hoods are not-so-white anymore, and there's 20 years worth of grime. But no rust!

Seems like you have the complete group , should fetch a decent sum. The 600 pedals are most likely the 6400's , which as you probably know , will pull about $50 on flea bay. Nice score !

For the brake hoods, try the "Formula 409" household cleaner found at the supermarket.

Wow, quite a score for $50!
Sante group comes with a chromed freewheel. Check for that.

The Trek 7xx hybrids were nice riding bikes. Your wife will be very happy.

Looks like it might be chromed. Hard to tell with 20 year old grease & grime all over it. But it's definitely shinier than the other freewheels I have.

And yes, I really like the 700 series MultiTracks. I have a 1990 790 that I ride several times a week.

FWIW, I had a 1988 +/- Falcon Sterling. 531C frameset, full Sante. Ended up rebuilding it with Shimano 105, and keeping the Sante bits. Sante pricing comes and goes. A couple of years ago, I was seeing groups bring $400 on fleecebay. Now its about half that amount.

And sometimes I have seen the individual components go cheap, really cheap. Lots of variance.
