show'in one more bicycle.

This is a bicycle that I found for $50 in Freeport Illinois 22 years ago when I was a bike rep. Sat dusty till now.

Needs front and rear deraileur..rear on order.
I need to rebuild some wheels.. Dont know how but i lost the stock front wheel.

I have some large flange hubs and wolber 58 rims..new old stock

Currantly has some sovos hubs and wien concave rims 700c that is creating reach issues in the rear.

need to find some period brake shoes.

Probably going to wrap it with the Green schwinn tape I found in my junk box.

Stock saddle was a brooks I understand. Dont have one.

Good shape. Im the second owner.

I really am growing to dislike you.. why do you have to have so many gorgeous bikes I wouldn't mind owning? I'll definitely be interested to see this one finished.

Thanks. Glad you like them.

I worked in a bicycle store from 82 to 89, We had Schwinn Trek Miyata Nishiki, Cannondale and some Univega. and dabbled in Raliegh one year..Then i was the GT bicycles Factory rep for 10 years up till 99. then I left the industry. I knew I had some cool classics till one day. I was on RAGBRAI on my paramount and some guy in his 60s said "your nuts! what are you doing riding that bicycle on this ride?, Do you know what your riding son?". I knew I had a cool bike but didnt realized that it turned the corner into collectability.

That's a clean machine jjhabbs. It would be nice if you could find some Weinmann concaves in 27 - they'd certainly complement the bike nicely.
Personally I would not go "period" on the brake shoes - They can be NOS but the compound will still be old, and likely not optimal for braking.

Im with you Auchencrow, Would love to find some 27 concaves. I have some new old stock wolber 27 x 1 1/4 model 58 rims. Shiny, eyelets but single wall...There are new X cut wien type shoes out there. I just need to find them. they still have the aluminum shoe holder..They may not be the original quality but look.. They will stop fine. I have them on my Voyageur.

Sorry, I guess you're not used to the frequent attempts at humor around here. That was a backhanded compliment, and a joke about the 'should I paint my (beautiful) bike' threads that surfaced today.

So all Weinmann concaves are single wall? I swear I've seen doubles, but I could be wrong I guess? I do have a set with eyelets on my Raleigh SC 12. They're nice rims for sure, but I have been told they're heavy.,,,,BD

NICE SS too! Wow, I'd love to have one that clean!

Yeah Bikedued. they did. I do recall seeing a 26 inch. I forgot all about it. It was a wide mountain bike size.
