This seemed like a good candidate as a donor bike for me...until I realized there was only one brake (seller got rid of the other). Grr. There's a distinct lack of good components around here.

yeah, that's a diamond (well... a moonstone, maybe) in the rough. Looks Trek-ish. I'd buy it, for sure.

If all you would need to come up with after that is one brake, it still sounds like a reasonable deal on shimano 600. Well, I admit I don't know what the Canadian dollar is doing these days, but in US dollars it would be totally worth it if everything else is there and in good working order.

Trek's have their name all over the lugs, usually stamped in.

from the (blurry) look of the DOs and given the internal TT cabling I'd guess it could be a Peugeot, maybe a Canadian model...worth investigating further, might be worth buying, even.

Definitely worth looking into---he might even have the old parts in bin somewhere. He will never get $150 for it, I bet you could get it for $80. Or maybe offer him $200 for the bike and the guitar he is also trying to sell.

are you sure the RD is a 600? It looks like a 105 to me.
It looks like the guy just had a mishmash of parts put on... (maybe his friend with the parts bin didn't have a rear brake?) still I'd snap that up quick.

I'm going to go and see it...but I'm not sure about that RD. The frame's way too big for me and my husband likes his Miele a lot, so I doubt we will have a use for the frame. Any locals interested in the frame/headset/fork?

Not a Trek. Seat lug is not a Trek. The crank and RD are 600, first generation 600. What ever it is, it should be pretty nice under the spray paint. Probably mid to high end.

Sure, if it isn't too far gone underneath that paint, I would be interested. Let me know via PM or whatever is easiest for you.
