Another Lejeune in the stable....or is it a Lejeune?

Since lotek asked.....

No photos yet, but I just took delivery of a 54 cm 531 frame purported to be a Lejeune. It is a dead ringer for my NOS Lejeune Champ du Monde frame save it has chrome "socks" and one other thing.

It is English thread. BB and fork. The fork has the typical French flat. The seatpost is 26.6, typical French.

I'm not sure a French BB can be retapped English.

35 mm is 1.377+ so just over English threading.
In other words you can tap a French to Italian (ignoring the width) but not to English.
CdM's did come with half chrome for a short time for what its worth.

Might be a while. This one is pretty much bare.

Hmm....so it probably was built English. I have not yet checked the inside steerer dimensions, so do not know if it is 22.0 or 22.2. The steerer is Nervor and the head tube is seamed, just like my NOS frame. Has the same type of seat tube ears, but the threaded side has been drilled out. Also has the ever present wood plug in the bottom of the steerer. I can read Reynolds butted on the seat tube and butted on the forks. It is missing the small guide ring on the seat stay for the derailleur cable housing. That seems to be a common feature of the higher end Lejeunes.

The chrome socks were an extra cost option on the CdM and the Pro according to my catalogs. Will do some more sleuthing.
