Making some headway. I need to get the new decals on. I need some NR hoods so I can use the levers I all ready have.
Looking good so far though. I can not wait to ride it.
What color casing should I go with?? Cant decide.

If your decals are black I might go with black, but red or blue housing and tape would look great on that.
Your brake blocks/holders are on backwards. The open portion where the block slides in should go toward the rear of the bike.
a mix of Nuovo and Corse record?

Looking really nice John. I'd go with black cables, but maybe some colored Benotto tape. Very cool .

Those look cool Bianchigirll
Check out the wheelbase and angles on this thing..wow. 39inches.
No room for a finger in front of the rear tire and behind the front.
This should handle pretty fast.

u shoulda told use to put on sunglasses when viewing this thread.
also if you have sheriff hubs then you can definitely not used anything but C-record on this bike. Imagine a nice set of Delta's on this, or maybe some cobalto's with the blue jem and maybe blue cabling to match. You also need the c-record crank as well and DT's and seat post.
Anything else is unacceptable !!

Yes twin seat tubes and the wheels nestles in between them. squirrely? well one time while out riding when my allergies were acting up, and sneezed a few times and suddenly realized I headed the wrong way!

YES, It Handles Fast!
Hello jjhabbs!
I just found this thread and joined the forum in order to respond!
I own a chrome Ochsner SL that I built-up new circa 1987 as my criterium bike. My road racer was a blue Ochsner with full Super Record. So here I am 25 years later still riding the chrome Ochsner exclusively! I get great pleasure dusting rich guys on titanium bikes, and I'm a pretty good climber at 128 lbs! So I'm still flying the Ochsner flag here in Colorado.
I originally installed a Triomphe groupo, but through the years I have made some changes and worn things out. I'm currently running Mavic front & rear derailleurs, and I recently installed a carbon fiber seat post and fork (of course I still have the beautiful original).
I am now jumping into the 21st century and installing a new Campagnolo Centaur Carbon groupo. So it's time to renew my decals. I wrote to Ochsner a couple of weeks ago in order to obtain replacement decals but did not receive a response (maybe you have them all ). I'll try again. I once met Mr. Ochsner at Interbike in Atlantic City - nice guy with some great Swiss chocolates! Back in '91 he was sad to hear that my blue bike was stolen while I was riding it (in Texas) and was quick to ship a replacement frame which I still have new in the box!
Best regards, and great job!

Yes. I do have all the decals. I know the guys at Ochsner because I used to be a customer of theirs when I ran a bicycle shop. Im pretty sure I can part with a set for you. When I called on my bicycle they didnt know the year or who actually made the frame. maybe you can shed some light on that for me.

Good evening jjhabbs!
Wow, I've been asleep (actually very involved as a neighborhood activist or working on my bike). I just noticed your posting on the thread after receiving your private message.
That is great news! I decided to pursue new decals after I noticed that the head tube crest was partially scuffed off. Please let me know how I can compensate you for them.
Last week I finished my 20th to 21st Century conversion of the Ochsner. I have resisted for years, sticking with 6 cogs even though I can gain over 5,000 feet in a 50 mile loop from my home. Plus, the ratios fell short on grades of 10% or more.
The bike is transformed with its Campagnolo Centaur Carbon groupo and Mavic Equip wheels (photo below)! Believe it or not, this is the first time I've even ridden an indexed road bike. Plus it actually stops! I didn't realize how hard I was horsing on those Triumphe levers and original brake pads in order to stop. By the way, I purchase the Campy goods from Lickton's. I've puchased Ochsner jerseys and bottles from them years ago, and they've been around for years, so I trust them. Bob at Licktons was familiar with the frame, but seemed surprised that it was chrome (red was more common).
As far as frame history, of course they were made in Switzerland, and a claim that the fabricator's name was Royal is on-line, but I haven't confirmed that. My chrome frame seems more hand-built than my blue Ochsner Zeta frame; especially with the Cinelli lugs, BB, fork crown, and Campy dropouts. The two could have been made by different makers.
Hope to heare from you again! Thanks so much!
Neil
Does this mean it's no longer vintage I'll have to leave that to my wife's 61cm Mondonico (yes, 61cm - she's 6ft tall)

Sorry to dredge up an old post, but I'm unable to send a private message since I don't have 50 posts.
Hey Neil,
Just came across your post. Since Ochsner's are seemingly rare...I wonder if this might have been your bike. https://sanantonio.craigslist.org/bik/3665464151.html
It'd be amazing to find it after all these years, but crazier things have happened...heck, last year I followed and called the police on a guy I saw driving my car that was stolen three years before.
If this bike is the same size as yours was, I'd gladly check it's serial number if you happen to still have a record of it.

Looks like the ad has already been removed by the seller (3/19/13)! However, if it's the original color it was not mine. My stolen bike (Columbus Zeta tubing) came in blue. My current Ochsner (Columbus SL) came in red and chrome.
Cool how this info gets passed around. Thanks for the heads-up guys!!
Just noticed Chombi's note too.
I might agree with that if the bike wasn't my one and only road bike. The frame rocks, and I couldn't bare to hang it up as a collector's item :-)

Neil,
Should have grabbed a copy of the ad. The bike was blue, and still had the ochsner decals on it. I'll see if I can find it in my cache on my other computer.
