Inventory log or spreadsheet
Does anyone know of an available spreadsheet or log for keeping track of acquired bicycles? I have searched BF and google but haven't been able to find anything. I am getting to the point where I don't remember what bicycles I have.I guess I could just keep track in a notebook but a computerized spreadsheet with information and possible pictures would be much easier.
Thanks

One of the members here on the forums, Ciufalon, passed me a couple spreadsheets a while back. One is an invewntory sheet and another is a build sheet. They are pretty comprehensive and in spite of my best intentions I have yet to use them. If you PM me your email address I'll share them with you.

I use an Excel spreadsheet. Easy enough to set up yourself, lot's of options, link to photos in a folder or online.
You can also try Google Apps, and keep a spreadsheet online for anywhere, anytime access.

I use a couple of different methods; I have a spread sheet from someone here on BF, don't recall who. I also use a word doc that I print and keep in a book in the shop. I use that one to jot notes on and when I think about it I update the electronic version. I also keep pictures of the bikes, equipment and serial numbers on a couple of flash drives. One stays in the my safety deposit box, the other is in a friend's possession halfway across the country. I periodically send them an updated one. I also have pictures on a couple of cloud locations. None of the methods are fool proof or even complete but between them I have a pretty good record of what I have.

I use two flickr accounts for bikes. One has completed bikes, one has as found or projects. Two reasons I do this. First, to keep flickr "free", you are limited to 200 viewable pictures. Secondly, I was having some issues around buyers looking at the before pics and it hurt sales. As a minimum, the before pics confused newbs.
+1 on the spreadsheet. I also now put a tag on completed bikes with basic, but pertinent, information, such as new parts, size, etc. Picked up a pile of nice plastic tag sleeves at Salvation Army. Should be enough to last me years.

OK, so it only works periodically, but the Bicycle ap on Facebook is a pretty decent online inventory tool.

Quick Books 2007. I run the entire mess as a business, and actually can figure out whether or not I'm losing money on what I ride at the end of the year. I figure if I have enough walk-in clients showing up on top of my Craigslist sales, someday the county is going to notice me, so I might as well have my books in order.

I use Excel, but I have used some Open Office .org applications too and they're pretty decent. They have a full suite of applications (for free).

You can even build yourself a relational database for all your bikes and components.
