Hot build you have there.

I'd love to ride that bike.

I was a bit Colnago crazed today as well and just got back from a little ride around our Mpls. Lakes.

Rode my Extreme Power I just collected from my cabin.

Excellent sight seeing on a warm day in the Twin Cities.

Still time to ride again before I have to pick up the kids from soccer.

Away we go!

i'll take that as a compliment

i'm going to stick on some other record cranks and use these ultra torques for a more modern build
hopefully the chain and cables will be done in the next week or so..

I really like the pink CK headset complimenting the pink in the frame. I wish that you went towards chrome rather than black as it would highlight those beautiful chrome lugs and stays.

That being said, she's a beaut. I'm thoroughly jealous.

Love it.

Vittoria Evo SCs are a great choice, but don't forget about Veloflex Master 23s or Deda Dre's.

More black to keep the color balanced, especially with the bar tape.

Especially if you keep the black Turbo.

I finally found time to take the Master down to the LBS to install the cables and chain - apart form that i did everything else.
i should get it back in the next day or two.
I've changed the saddle to a flite carbonio, the seatpost to an older carbon record and the cranks to an earlier model carbon record.
Bar tape will be white Fizik perforated, tyres will be new Michelin pro race 4 ivory and pedals white look keos...

watch this space!

I'm thinking about buying one of these for my Rodriguez, which has a 1" headtube. Can you give any more info on it? I thought this might be more appropriate than a shim on a modern stem, although I am not adverse to it.

Hey, i don't have much info apart from that they were made by Kelly, the one on this bike is a -17 degree so effectively horizontal.
I also have a -10 degree that points up slightly but not too far.
What i like about them is that the tubing is the same size as most steel frames so looks the part and also that you can easily get them custom painted to match the frame ...

here's the -10 degree stem on the Lemond i sold:

clamp size is 26.0 so will fit deda bars and some others.

you should find one on ebay

Since I saw your Colnago Master Olympic frame, I've been taking notice of them and Colnago Art Decor frames on eBay, and I have yet to see one as nice as yours.

i think oldmuthariley covered it pretty well. the stems were apparently made by kelly, the can be bought new for a fairly reasonable price, they fit common 26mm bars, you can pick your length and angle, and they look absolutely fantastic with steel frames. if you have any further questions feel free to ask. i think it looks more fitting than a quill stem on my build:

please forgive the unfinished build and uncut steerer.

oh, it should also be mentioned that the offset on the handlebar pinch bolt on the kelly stem would make it look odd flipped upside down.

Yes, polished Record hubs, polished Deda bars, stem and post. It will be built up with a Campy Athena 11 speed group (all polished, no carbon). The frame is a 2009 that I purchased new from my LBS. It took me a couple of years to get all the parts together and I have been thinking about starting on it soon. Other projects keep jumping in front of it. Right now my backlog is a 1974 Legnano Gran Premio a 2011 Moots MTB, 1974 Hetchins Italia, 198? Sancineto and a 1962 Legnano Gran Premio. Oh, and I try and save some time to ride the others!

Looks great...but...my 2c:

Color match the stem to the frame or go polished alloy (color matched fork would look great as well, but I imagine you won't go there) , and swap for a polished seat post to balance the chrome stays.

Very nice indeed.

Hi thanks for the comments.
i could colour match the stem and have a pair of straight forks that i could paint too (maybe i will do that for spares)
re: silver post etc - i'll stick with what i've got at the moment. (already spent enough $$$!)
the bike is now built with black tape and pedals and the turbo saddle back on.
I'll try and take some pics on her maiden voyage tomorrow morning

I agree about Buldogge's comments, however, if you keep the black fork, then you should keep the black stem. Very jealous of this.

i just got back from a sunny but chilly 2 and a half hour ride.
The Colnago felt great - slightly smaller than i've been riding recently but just the right amount of reach.
It feels pretty light and was silent apart from when freewheeling, i got an admiring look off a cow and a few nods from other cyclists.
Here's a pic or two from the ride, and then at home trying out different wheels to see which i like the look of...

This is beautiful! I only learned of these wild paint schemes a couple of months ago on another site. Definitely something I'll keep my eye out for in the future. They are definitely eye catchers.

after not being happy with the look of the bike - somehow just didn't "look right" i swapped the following:

Seatpost now a thomson masterpiece with a Rolls saddle, cranks changed to Record ultratorque.
Here's another seriously awful quality picture...

It'd turn my head out on a ride. In fact it may even cause me to ride off the road. It's a DANGEROUS Colnago.
