Yeah...but...I ignored you and now it's sporting Campy Centaur alloy 10s Ergos, FD, RD, and brakes. I was able to keep the cranks by machining the inner ring 1mm, though.
It is currently wearing the newest wheelset...silver A23s laced to Record 28H hubs (thanx BianchGirl)...although I am re-lacing the Gipiemmes next week (Superlight rear, Sapim Lasers all around).
To keep this semi-on topic, I flatted on it's first voyage with 10s today and used a Topeak Micro Rocket AL MasterBlaster and was quite happy with it, for a small bag fitting pump.

I was lucky to get an Acorn bag for my Le Champion recently. With the frame pump I only have one bottle holder so this is the perfect size for a second bottle and a jacket and misc. items.

^^^I love the medium Acorn saddle bags, I have them on (3) of my rigs.
I also recently bought a couple Arundel Tubis, and these are really nice little bags as well...tube/levers/tool type bags, with a little extra pocket(s) for cash/whatever.

Plain Jane, Bell handlebar bag. Holds everything I need, cheap and durable.

I only carry a tire under the seat. A multi-tool, phone, ID, cash, CC and CO2 are in a jersey pocket and I'm good.
Old school - tire wrapped in a page of La Gazzetta dello Sport (the pink is quite faded) wrapped with a toe strap.
Not as old school - Vittoria rubber straps
New school - Cinelli bag - something I am seriously considering making repops, its a nice bag

Arundel makes a few nice, minimalist saddle bags. The tiny Solo, the S/M Dual, or the Tubi for sew-up tires. I have a Dual and it's actually just a hair big for my liking (I carry one tube, tire levers, 2x CO2 cartridges, a tire lever, a small patch kit, and a little multi-tool) as it's designed to carry two tubes and your stuff. I stuffed a small rag in mine to take up the extra volume. The bag looks appropriate on modern bikes and C&V bike IMO and best of all, there's no seatpost strap to destroy your bibs (if you wear them). There's also a leather patch on the bag to prevent your post from wearing a hole in the material. I'll have to take a pic of my Trek 730 with mine on but in the meantime, here's a link to the Arundel site - https://www.arundelbike.com/dual.html?p=1.1.2.1

On my '88 Prologue, I have a Cannondale seat pack of around the same age as the bike.

Would fit perfectly on my 80-s ride.

*shrug* I have a small basic Topeak wedge bag hanging under the Brooks Swallow on my '85 Nishiki. It's compact and does the job well, so...why not?

On many saddles, you can take a spare tube and stuff it between the rails. Some of the older leather saddles have too much space between the rails and the leather, but my Rolls saddle will hold a tube securely. Put it in a ziplock bag if you build up a lot of road grime.
Personally, I keep a tubular under the saddle and a tool roll in my jersey pocket (yes, I'm a lycra guy). It's not real elegant, but it gets the job done.

I migrated away from a seat bag given 4 bikes I rotate through. I use a small Eagle Creek zippered bag that tucks neatly into the middle jersey pocket. And here's the real reason Cavendish crashed.
I'll use this coming week on the STP.

The Carradice bag will hold and CO2 inflater, a tube and 2 irons...that's about it....seems there's more to the bag than what it can carry.
