I'm here, I just don't post often. I like to see what everyone's up to, but lacking a budget (or sound advice) I don't typically say much. :-)

I'm on vacation 7/21-7/23. With any luck it'll be on my doorstep when I get home 7/23 and I can send it out within 48 hours. I sent an address request to jeirvine 7/22/2012 @ 7:58pm PST.

Thanks!

^ Thanks for the update - I noted long ago when you first asked to be added to the list you had a good bunch of stuff to add to the box, so there will be more happy recipients down the road

Jeirvine has also checked in lately, so we're still moving right along!

Don't forget to snap some pics for us

Oh man! I see some levers, hoods, and possibly some other things I could use for my projects. Can't wait to see what comes around when it gets to me.

I sure can - any others interested in a second or third go-around?

BTW, if this keeps going indefinitely, I will have to bow out around January - I will be going out of the country to a location that has pretty spotty/slow Interwebz connection. One of you might have to take the reins after that.

I nominate Photogravity - I think he'd do a great job herding cats

I would say, "add me", except I sort of blew my stash of unused stuff (it wasn't really that big) on the first go-round, and don't have prospects for replenishing the stash anytime soon. I'll just sit back and watch.

I'm very much looking forward to getting the BOC, and I hope my crap is worthy. You guys seem to be setting a pretty high standard for this. It's become more like a secret Santa party than a white elephant party.

This is such an awesome and fun game. I'm totally jealous of some of the "crap" you folks have scored from the BOC. Too bad I can't join since I'm up in Canada. I know I have some crap some of you folks would probably appreciate that I've not got a bike to put it on at the moment. Keep it up, this is one of the most entertaining threads I've read in a while.
My only suggestion - more consistent pics on the box and part scores, some of use are just BOC-armchair-fans, we need pics.

As predicted the box was waiting at my door when I got home from vacation - props to the USPS for getting it here so quickly! I'm about to go sort through what's in there and (of course) take the pictures as required by the rules and post again.

jeirvine was very speedy in responding to my PM so I already have his address ready to go. Should be back on the road soon!

Here's the box in all it's glory:

Here's my take:

General remarks:
I tried to add things that weren't already in abundance. I didn't have a need for a lot, so I had a hard time fitting in all the stuff I wanted to put back in! I loved the gloves, but they didn't fit - might have fit my wife but she refused to even try them on. Oh well...

As far as the parts I took, I have an old frame lying around that I might turn into a nice run-about and the stem & levers should work great. The pads are perfect because I recently ordered new pads for my main road bike but I forgot that a "pair" means 1 set of pads (i.e. 1 wheel, not a "pair of sets", or, 2 wheels).

Thanks to the magic of the internet, I have already printed the shipping label for jeirvine and sealed up the box. I will drop it off at the post office tomorrow (I would schedule a pick-up online too, but I pity my mailman who actually walks door to door).

Thanks! Look forward to seeing my stuff come out of the box and see what happens to it (that might be the best part?)

^ Indeed - looks like a great haul; that 3ttt stem was worth the admission price alone

I'll be looking forward to this in a week or so - looks like the current crap is pretty high-quality stuff!

Heck, I can fix that - I'll take a coarse Scotch-Brite pad to everything in the box before I seal it up and ship it off.

Sorted

Just an update: the box was delivered to the USPS drop off at 7:07pm local time.

Also, another thing I noticed (and appreciated) about the box: all of the crap is really clean! Good job to everyone who put things in (especially cassettes) clean and kept the box from becoming a big mess.

Also- I think the box needs to be replaced soon - all of the bottom corners are blown out. I did my best to reinforce it with clear packaging tape (my apologies to jeirvine, it's going to be a b***h to open). Perhaps the person after jeirvine could pick up another box (I think they're free from USPS?) and have it ready. I would have, but to do so would probably have delayed its shipment by several days.

Thanks to everyone who participated, I'm excited to put those parts to use!

Since the box seems to be hovering around 25lbs, it seems the packaging is only going to last about 2/3 hand-offs. I will have a new Flat Rate box standing by, but it might be needed even before it reaches me. The boxes are indeed free.

Jeirvine, you'll be able to judge for yourself once you receive it. If you need to get a new box, and that delays shipment a couple days, so be it.

Thanks for the update - BTW, did the map ever get sent separately from the box as was planned? It sorta sux that we aren't able to track it for posterity's sake any more

PM sent to last known holder of the map

I've requested that it be sent to me since it will be another week or so before I should receive the box. It will be put inside the box for all future recipients to mark their location.

BOC Has Landed. One small step for a box o junk, one giant leap for some projects.

The eagle has landed:

There are some nice parts in there among some serious crap:

And here is what I took. Most parts will be used for a pair of Lotuses that I am building up as city bikes for coworkers. The Suntour RD mounting bolt will be donated to the co-op, where they have a whole drawer of RD's in need of 'em. The kids leather gloves from France (how cool!) will be going to 8 yr old Nora who loves her kid's Gitane road bike. A perfect gift, and a big thanks to whoever added them in.

The BOC is now on it's way back to DD, in a fresh box. The post office said it would have been $70 had it not been for the flat rate.

Thanks for letting me play, and yes: sign me up for another round.

Great pics, jeirvine! And wow, that box looked like it was on its last legs

You're signed up for another go-around.

Looks as though the quality of the "crap" is moving way beyond what it used to be. We may need a complete name-change to this game if the quality of the innards continues like this. BTW, the map is on its way to me as we speak, so I should be able to mark my location and those of fusatia and jeirvine on it as well before putting it back into the box to continue the journey.

I've got my stuff all ready for launch - I just hope there's room for it all
