I'd like to get back in the BOC que. Here is the cool REI bag I got from the last go round. It now resides on my 79 Grand Prix. Thanks

Good deal. I fully expect to use very little when it comes my way, too, but I'm glad I'm in. I can always send some stuff along.

Btw, did you get pics of the "artwork" on the outside of the box? I note you made a comment about it, but no pics - and I'll admit I'm dying to see what the artwork looks like!

Oh. it wasn't anything too special. Just enough to make the mail handlers wonder what the heck is in there. Box use count is up to 12.

Also it will be going out to rhm on Thursday.

o.O I didn't think that box would make it past you! I like the additions too! It should be noted, this was done as a poor imitation of a previous artists work on a previous box.

That's where the "make a box around the box out of packing tape" technique comes into play

The box arrived a couple days ago (Tuesday, September 15) and I haven't had a chance to document and select. Man, what a box of crap! Some great stuff in there, though sadly not much for me. I'll try to sort it out and mail it either tomorrow or Monday.

I'll be looking this evening. Post office does not deliver to door, but rather leasing office, which closes at six( and I won't get home until eight), but I do get a notification. I'll keep you all updated.

No, don't. I haven't been able to get to the post office (yes, that's my lame excuse). I promise I will do it tomorrow, and will pm you a confirmation number tomorrow.

Yeah, I had a box of stuff selected in advance, but seeing what's in the box changed my mind (but this is not another excuse). A lot of the stuff I was planning to put in there didn't seem appropriate any more; a lot of it was already in there. I had to start over to carefully select stuff that didsn't duplicate the present contents... and it's not as easy as it looks! I think you'll see what I mean when your turn comes.

@RaleighSport and @Drillium Dude, please take me off the list. My hobbying has gone in a slightly different direction; my one old bike is running and the other is getting modernized. And I don't want to see any more crap out of you.

Okay, so, after much delay.... this is what the box was looking like as I was sorting through it...

This stuff didn't make it back into the box.

That's a Velo Orange fork stabilzer (the thing in the bag; I want to try it out on my Holdsworth); a Lucas mileage meter for 20" wheels; a pump clip; a 39t chain ring; a couple seat post clamps; a Campy BB fixed cup for Italian thread; and that 120mm quill stem you see in the first photo, I kept that too.

The Campy Gran Sport FD didn't make it back into the box either. It's beyond useless, looks like it got damaged in transit. Too bad.

It was dark when the box left my house this morning, strapped to the luggage rack on my Holdsworth; otherwise I would have got a photo. It was still dark when I got off the train and rode a Citibike to my office. But here it is in the luggage rack of a Citibike that I rode to the post office:

All that weight on the front end of a Citibike actually makes it pretty stable. For the first time ever, I was able to take my hands off the handlebar.

Edit/update: USPS says the package was delivered to the next addressee on September 27.

You trusted your Holdsworth to the vermin who frequent train stations??? I lost one decent bike at a Metra station here in Evanston, IL a couple years ago, and have heard of thieves riding the Metra further north looking for bikes. No way I'd ever leave anything nice at the train again. It's my (t)rusty Schwinn Speedster or my hooves which get me to the train.

Well, yes! But it's in a locker (which sets me back $90 per annum) so I don't have to worry. Here it, leaning against my locker some time this summer, before I put the racks on the bike....

^^^Dang it Skip, sorry to hear. I've had that sunk feeling too. What do you guys do in the big city if touring around, hitting a restaurant, museum? We have a couple of clunker bikes always left out to jump on, as loaners for neighbors or guest. But not up to riding when touring a town. Prefer to enjoy a finer or lightweight bike.

One would think these days and with all the street cam's, could catch some a whole lot more of scum thieves. Seems nothing really has changed.
