Thanks!

A reminder to those that have never played or haven't played in awhile: see the rules on Page One/Post One :)

@Drillium Dude : Please re-add me!

I put them in, they're Rx100's, forget if they're 2x8 or 2x9 but I'm leaning toward 2x8

brandenjs 03-10-14 06:56 PM

What's the status of the box folks? There is one more stop then it comes to me. Sorry if I am over anxious. :)

thenomad 03-10-14 08:25 PM

I'm taking it in to work tomorrow, should be able to mail it on the way home.
Will take a pic of the crap I took.

rotharpunc 03-11-14 10:11 PM

LOL, I meant on a bike! @mav - thanks for the info, I'll get them cleaned up and find out, I have a drop bar MTB type project in mind.

Box will be sent out tomorrow (Monday) afternoon.

drillium, please add me to the next round.

Usps is beating these up pretty good. Looks like everyone needs to just get a new box. Lot of heavy metal!

And I didn't see the bent fork

RamAlaRag 03-16-14 11:22 PM

I'd like to be added to the list! Let me know when and who to send my mailing address to! :)

brandenjs 03-21-14 12:53 PM

Picked up the BOC at the post office today. Pics will be coming this evening and I might be able to ship it back out tomorrow. It actually arrived in pretty good shape.

brandenjs 03-21-14 05:39 PM

I feel pretty good about what I put in compared to what is in there(it may need to be purged). I hope someone can enjoy those pieces. It will be back in shipping tomorrow to the next member. I reused the same box because there weren't any major holes. I think it will last another shipping.

As received:

Yuuuup that's why I basically make another box out of shipping tape outside the box ;)

Yea, I wrapped it pretty well to reinforce it.

Lascauxcaveman 03-24-14 01:43 PM

Crap arrived in fine shape today; box holding up quite well.

I'll sort through it over the next few days and try to set my imagination into what I might make use of. The box is getting low on freewheels, a situation which I may need to remedy.

Get the thing back up to its fighting weight :)

SJX426 03-24-14 01:46 PM

Looks like I am next! Take the full amount of time. I think I have my stuff ready to add.

Well, like I PM'd you, I got the box ready for shipping today, printed a label and put it out for pickup, but the postman never came by. Usually I just leave outgoing stuff on the step where the postman drops off the incoming mail, but we didn't get any incoming today. If he pulls that trick again Monday, I'll drive to the post office instead :(

Anyway here's my healthy haul, much better than last time (I hope I wasn't too greedy). I especially like the absolutely darling little MAFAC brake wrench set with its dainty little rubber pouch. Big thanks to whomever tossed that in there!

Also, here's "before" shot of the perfectly decent looking dirt drop stem shown above (before a liberal application of paint stripper and wet sanding):

I may have to buff that out all the way just to see how nice I can make it, but it's a fairly crude casting.http://www.zoominto.com/zoomapi/ZoomButt.gifhttp://www.zoominto.com/zoomapi/ZoomButt.gif

brandenjs 03-29-14 05:51 PM

That's too funny. I didn't think that little wrench set would make it very far. It was a last minute grab off the bench to put it in there.

SJX426 03-29-14 07:59 PM

Funny too! I have that set and was thinking of dropping it in the box, as I don't currently have any Mafac brakes. I got it with my Peugeot U08 back in 1969/70.

BluesDaddy 03-29-14 08:02 PM

Are those the Schwinn Approved quick-release brake levers? I have a similar pair on my Le Tour Luxe. They're great help with getting a 32mm tire out through center-pull brakes.

awfulwaffle 03-29-14 08:13 PM

Oh man, I'm a long ways off. Figures I just picked up a vintage bike and need a stem, and I've been ignoring the quill stems in the box every time I've had it! :D

That set actually came out of a Peugeot I flipped and forgot to give to the buyer. This is the reason for the BOC game. The transfer of cool stuff to people that appreciate it. (Oh yea those Schwinn levers were mine also).

I'm definitely going through a MAFAC-o-phile period. Seems like every other old bike I pick up has a set of frenchie centerpulls.

I think I followed the right guy :)

Happy Birthday, Box O' Crap :)

Yup - he's 2 years old today. Thanks to everyone for their contributions over the past couple of years, in particular those of you who went the extra mile (more than once) to ensure this day even happened.

Here's to many more!

brandenjs 03-30-14 07:52 AM

Happy B-Day BOC.. DD please put me back on the list. It was fun anticipating what might be in there. I'm happy that someone completely on the other end of the country is enjoying something I put in there.
