I purchased from this man before
I bought a nos sewup from him, he asked if there was anything else I need,
I got 5 used sewups for the cost of the shipping
All of which are in useable condition.
he gets some nice vintage stuff, its a non profit setup, bikes donated go to africa.

That is good to know, about that seller.

He seems to think that SA Quadrant shifter is a very early model, which would explain the price. And he may be right; I don't know enough about these things to assess that. It looks to me like the 30's version that can be found, with patience, for a lesser order of magnitude of money.

Hadland's has a diagram of the SA Quadrant shifter, for the DIY types that want to make one.

Judging from the diagrams and pictures, from the pivot to the edge of the quadrant is roughly 1 5/16". There are two detents, one for the Low gear, one for the Middle gear. In order to shift gears, the lever is slightly moved to the side to lift it out of the detent and shifted to the new position. The side plates are made out of brass?

https://www.hadland.me.uk/6triggers.pdf

I know that a much larger version of this style of shifter was made in the 70s for Chopper bikes. It was big and goofy, but I'm not sure how much of that shifter was cosmetic fluff, and how much was actually functional.

There is a current model of the frame mounted shifter available in either a straight stick or curved. Problem is, the whole kit consists of exactly what you see in this picture.
https://classic-cycle.de/en/Hubs-Axle...S-30-bent.html
I ordered one a while back, thinking it would come ready to mount up to the frame tube, but such is not the case.
I called the supplier about it, and their reply was that basically, it's aimed at the OEM market who would work out their own mounting design.
So, I've been working out ideas about what kind of build I'm going to use it on, and working out a mounting bracket design.
l'll post about it whenever I finally get around to that.

Well, that should work out about right. I'll be well into my second childhood by the time I get it built.
