Can someone tell me the seatpost size on my new Univega Via Charisma?

I bought this bike over the weekend. Unsure of the year but it is a chromoly frame Univega Via Charisma. I didn't notice it but when I got it, someone had stuck a standard crappy 1"/ 25.4 mm seatpost in it and clamped it down. They didn't clamp it down so tight to deform the hole though. I removed the seatpost and opened up the ears on the seatpost tabs. The slot is now parallel but now obviously the 25.4 mm seatpost is too small.

I haven't used my calipers to get a estimate reading of how large the hole is in hopes that someone here might know what size seatpost this bike should take?

Sorry for the crappy picture of the bike but I just wanted to show what it looked like. Anyone know what year it is? I wonder if the unique paintjob can narrow the year down.

The stickers on the frame say "Chromoly Frame", not just tubes so I wonder if this is a full crhomoly bike and not just the seat tube/top tube?

I bought a Via Carisma that had a 1" seat post stuck in it. Must be a common mod. I think the correct post is 26.4 or 26.8.

Well when I got home, I made sure that the seat post tabs were perfectly lined up and I measured it. I believe that my seatpost is actually 26.00 mm. So tomorrow I shall get a 26mm seatpost and test.

I got a 26.4mm post today and it was too big.
