Schwinn Paramount Series 3 PDG

This was a bike for the wife. She's 5'4" and I found this 49cm Schwinn Paramount.

I google-fu-ed and marking this bike as a 1991 Schwinn Paramount that was the first in a series that were made in Taiwan.

https://www.trfindley.com/flschwinn_1...1PmntPg07.html

The normal specs were Shimano RSX100 all around: https://www.trfindley.com/flschwinn_1...1PmntCvr2.html

but this one seemed to be spec-ed with mostly 105.

Shimano 105 Headset
Shimano 105 Brake Levers
Shimano 105 Shifters
Shimano 105 Cranks
Shimano 105 Rear Derailleur
Shimano 105 Hubs
Shimano 600 (Ultegra) Front Derailleur
Shimano RX100 Brake Calipers
Shimano Hyper Glide 7 Speed cassette: 13,14,15,17,19,21,23
Shimano Hyper Glide Chain

I striped the bike down to the frame and then rebuilt it. It was a fun day.

Here's the best part: when I showed my wife the bike she said that she liked it... but would rather have a "pink bike" ?!!!

ah well... I put it on craigslist and it was sold within 5min of posting the listing. It went to this cool young military guy who was a fellow bike nut. We ended up having a lot of things in common and talked for an hour.

A very underrated frame, in my opinion. Clean and spare, and looks like it's ready to move on down...
Very nice work.

Thats mine! So im the guy who picked it up off runningDoc. The bike rides great! I changed a bun ch of stuff since picking it up and did a 35 miler on it today. The seatpost is the wrong size so i shimmed it until i get a new one. overall its a great bike and ill probably end up throwing some apex on it before summer!

^^nice!!

wow thats 99% ready for the Hot or Not thread (chain only needs to be in the big chainring). new bars, stem, and tires?

apex on that baby would be great. with the way you mash gears you can probably get away with a 11-23 cassette!! Hahaha!

it was nice to meet a fellow wrench-er, with me being the superduper amateur, and you being a military professional grade.

That looks fantastic! The blue is nice - does it have the subtle red splatter over it or is is unadorned?

I had a 49cm PDG Paramount about a year ago. I loved that thing except for the horrible toe overlap so I sold it. With stop and go riding in town it's wasn't the best if your not used to it. Very cool bike though and good to see it went to a fellow member.
