Schwinn S-6 rim replacement 597 size rims???? HELP!

OK, so I am restoring a 1937 Peugeot. The rims currently have a 599 iso diameter. I figure I can get away with 597 iso however I can't find replacement rims ANYWHERE (In 597). Are they really that rare? I thought a ton of Schwinns had them? Am I screwed? Does anybody make custom-sized rims? It may be worth the expense...

The brake assembly has pretty much zero vertical adjustment so I think I am stuck with this iso diameter.

Uuuuuuuuuugh

Were it me, I'd go with 590mm rims and find replacement calipers. Also do a search for EA1 (597mm) rims. I just bought two sets a few weeks ago and they pop up on eBay once in a while.

Schwinn did make a lot of them in both Westrick and Endrick style, but they're all steel.

Shouldn't be too hard to find the Schwinn ones.

+1. With a little patience, you'll find some on eBay. There's a single, rusty one from the UK listed right now. If you're in the US, you may find a donor Schwinn faster -- look for a Breeze or a Collegiate from the '60s.

There's a thread somewhere where Heatherbikes had some wheels built
for a Raleigh Sports and ended up with some alloy 597 S-6 rims on them.

Look for it and ask her to ask the guy where he got them.

Unless you're one of those authenticity guys who insist on riding
around on steel rims for the sake of exercise value...........;)

This guy has a pair from a Schwinn;

I've got an extra pair of 599s but no tires for them:)

I'm going to check in with Heatherbikes...Why not lighten up if you can? Keeping my fingers crossed.

I have 2 s-6 rims that are not doing anything. Came off of a 76 schwinn. Steel is great condition. Ready to help out if needed.
