1983 Schwinn Supersport COSMETICS

Hey guys, I've got an 83 SSS. It is black with gold lettering. It is really in overall good shape (I will try and post pics soon, phone's dead), but it does have some scuffs and some of them are down to metal. Also, a lot of the lettering is rubbed off.

My questions to the more experienced vintage bike lovers:

A) Tricks/best ways to buff up and touch up the powdercoat?

B) Ways to restore the lettering...?

Thanks doodz

A) It was painted and not powder coated. Schwinn paint generally cleans and polishes very nicely. Try Scratch X to bring back the glossy finish and follow with a coat of polish and a coat of wax. The paint will glisten. Don't worry about the places where the metal is showing (patina) as long as you keep it polished and waxed, and indoors when not being ridden.

B) Short of ordering new custom made decals, not much. Although there many different types of Schwinn decals on ebay. Be careful with old waterslide decals. They tend to dissolve after they are of a certain age.
