The Sonic Blue Got My Attention: My Rock and Roll League Fuji
When I saw the CL ad, the Aqua Blue Fuji caught my attention. The ad said "League Fuji", but the color said "buy me." I sent my email, and then did my usual BF search. I only found one thread title related to the League Fuji. I was searching for nicer Fuji, but I kept missing my opportunity. Now was my chance!
After exchanging several emails, I made the 45 minute trip. I hopped into my rust-bucket Chevy Lumina. Typically the bikes I buy are worth more than the car I drive (this is the truth!). After driving through several bad neighborhoods, my surroundings changed. Now my Lumina was getting the wrong attention. The more affluent neighborhood was looking down on my humble transportation as to say "You don't belong here." Paying them no attention, I continued on to my destination. When I arrived to the subdivision, the homes were simple and inviting. I eventually made it to the home.
After making my way to the door, I rang the doorbell. After waiting patiently for several minutes, I rang the doorbell again. This time, a middle aged man with emerged from the shadows. His hair was normal length, but his multiple earrings and smooth disposition cried "Rock Star." I said, "You're a musician?"; he said, "I'm a drummer." It was clear that guy was cool! He said that he had rocked out all over the country.
We went into his garage, and he rolled out the bike. Although the bike was covered in dirt and grime, I could see its potential. The Aqua Blue Fuji was crying out even louder, "BUY ME." As I was standing in presence of a drummer, the beat of my heart began to sound louder. I said to myself, "Be cool; don't let him see your excitement."
After looking over the bike, I made a fair offer. He accepted, and we continued to converse. Although I didn't ask him much questions, I'd like to think I was standing in the presence of musical greatness.
I know many men wouldn't consider the color manly, but I like it. I loaded up the bike in my car, and I headed home. The moment that the bike entered the car, my car more than doubled in worth. Looking at my bike in the back seat, I said to myself, "Another successful trip."
According to the catalog, my 1986 League Fuji is "Sonic Blue." The color would actually make a name for a band.

That is a very nice Fuj and I'm glad that's going to be a keeper Bikeman! - And you could not go wrong buying it from a musician! - they're the coolest and always send good vibes with every bike they sell.
Drummers usually drive crummy cars though. Are you sure you're not a drummer?

Very nice score! The Le Pree components are pretty uncommon, does it have Le Pree hubs also?
On an unrelated note, it looks like you've been studying the writings of another Detroit author & C&V guy

The LePree rear derailleur is missing (although I think I can find one). The hubs are also LePree.
Yes, Auchen was my motivation. Most of my trips are boring, and I lack imagination. This story is pretty close to the events as they happened. What little I did pales in comparison to the master.

Great video clip! Thankfully our winter does not get that bad in the greater Detroit area.
The car in question can be seen in the upper left corner of the photo of the Maruishi. It is a great car when the neighborhood becomes questionable.
Thanks for sharing!

Flippers despair when they hear that engine hummin', for then they know that Bikeman's a comin' to haul off the bikes that they lust, in his car that's a bucket o' rust.
