This guy must be a coin collector

I thought this only happen with the collection of double or mis-stamped coins.

He's been trying to sell those for a couple of years now...

I have something similar; a 41t 144BCD Campy ring that has a very strange thing going on on the backside. Looks as though it was finished/anodized all over - even the teeth - except for the back side. And there are faint <C> and "41" markings which are reversed on the backside, too. They do not "line up" with their corresponding markings on the frontside. Really weird; I'm keeping it until I croak.

They were most likely testing out the stamping equipment after some adjuting in the factory. The technician testing the machine must have just thrown in the ring with all the other finished ones after he was done.......$1K for that thing?? now way man!

The machine stuttered. That'll be a grand, thank you. He started off at two hundred bucks.

What a moh-ron. It's worth diddley. If everything that came out of Italy with a manufacturing defect was valuable all Italians would be rich.

Oooh, I have a pair of Sun CR18 rims in 700c that are labeled ISO 559. I wonder what those are worth!

I used to have a Lego DUPLO pig like this:

but its eyes were silkscreened on the wrong end. That was pretty funny. Sold it on ebay for like $4 plus shipping, what a killing!

I remember a few years ago a Campy seat post, with double stamping, sold for several hundred dollars. Not the sort of thing I would spend my hard earn cash on, but for some people, such items do seem to have value.

Ya know, I need a big bauble like that to put the keys to the bathroom on so they won't walk away... but for $1K?? Think I'll get a big pipe instead...

When was the last time you saw a Campagnolo factory mistake?

-sticking with straight deraillers
-thinking of MTB as a stupid fad
-plastic Xenon/mirage/low end crap
-Single pully deraillers
-losing a 90% market share in the top end

Sure it has some value. Nothing to stop someone from offering $25.

It is odd to see these guys with crazy buy-it-now prices for years at a time. Don't they have to pay a lot in listing fees ?

Some of them must be to cater to some sort of insider humor like this BIN posting for a totally beat Panasonic AR-6000 from bbc bikes in Madison; maybe they have some secret knowledge on the value of Dura Ace AX components, but $4,999 is a bit much.
