I don't know, Skip. I think the Dodgeville Loop is the 50k, add in Mineral Point for the 100k, then back out around Governor Dodge and the lakes for the 150K and 200K. After that, not sure.

You just may have to ride it to find out.....enjoy some Badger hospitality (not always like the football games).

No.. You turn off of one loop to another. For example, instead of going straight for the 50km loop, you take a left up the 100km loop and eventually get back to the 50km loop to do the entire 100km. Pay careful attention to the arrows.

So...Can we get a "I'm gonna sign up for this" list?

I'm thinking the 150k would be perfect, but i would be down with trying the 200k if there was a bit of forum contingent.

I grew up in the driftless area, too, and 300k in those hills is nuts. Maybe the hills aren't quite so steep out near Dodgeville compared to closer to the Mississippi but they're plenty steep I'm sure. I just don't think I could drink enough beer to keep going for that distance anymore. Oh well, it sounds like a great ride and I'd love to do a ride in the midwest (still waiting for RAGBRAI to return to my home town) but this year I'm going to stay out west and do the Cino Heroica.

39/13-28?

If that works, I'm in serious consideration of either the 150 or 200.

There are relatively close hotels in Belmont, Mineral Point (The Redwood is closed), Dodgeville, Ridgeway, Barneveld, Spring Green. I don't know about Lone Rock.

Oooh, getting to be very tempting. Especially since Robbie has offered to pick me up on the way! What distance are you planning on doing Robbie? Everybody else? I'd be inclined to do the 150k.

Julia's still deciding if I am eligible.

We have family flying in from Bavaria that day and we will have just returned from a family expedition to the West Coast.

This has to be played just right.

If eligible, the 150 sounds just right.

It's kind of "open enrollment, so if I sign up for the 100K, I can move to the 150 or 200 with ease of intent.

Found my secret weapon: a 30T Campagnolo cog rattling around in the parts drawer for the 8-speed Mariposa. (39/50)
Figured if RobbieTunes can drive all the way from North Carolina, I can drive from Ontario.
Normally Mrs. Conspiratemus and I (the word is Latin for "let us breathe together") go everywhere on the tandem but she has to fly to Nunavut for two weeks on business. So I'll be breathing (gasping, wheezing, sobbing) for the two of us.

There's gonna be a whole bunch of young fit fast people from Chicago and Madison, huh, right? Oh well....

Well, I won't be one of them. I'll be one of the old fat steady crowd, on old bikes, with the smile and the beer, on an old bike.

How will this route compare (difficulty-wise) to last weekend's Horribly Hilly Hundred? A guy at work rode it and even with his titanium Seven and a new compact crank (32-26 low gear I think he said), he had to bail out on a couple climbs. Of course, given the group he rides with they were probably red lined a bunch of the time.

I've known people to say the 100k HHH is slightly harder than the DD but the 200k DD is slightly harder than the HHH.

atmo, they are equally painful.

The HHH is for people to brag about.

No one gives a rat's tail if you walk up a 200' stand-up hill at the bottom of High Street in Mineral Point.
They appreciate common sense there.
Many people have fallen down it, anyway.
It's emergency brake territory for parking cars.

In their 4th of July 5-miler (Run for the Hill of It), you run down that hill and TL, the opposite of the bike route. If you are one of the leaders, you'll grab the street sign post on the L of the corner and use it to swing you around the corner. Otherwise, you're in danger of going wide and into the old hearse garage. Don't ask me how I know.
