Hey all, only a bit over a week away. I hope to see you all in Mineral Point. I will be leaving Madison around 4 (on Friday) we are staying at Dairyland Motel. If you plan on hooking up let me know where would love to see you all again.

Otherwise have a great ride, wish for perfect weather, and wonderful conversation (even if some will likely be very tall tales) :-)

Eat well, drink well enough, and ride adequately.

Good luck to you all, and I'm planning on next year, trying to coordinate another group fiasco like 2012.
Part of the SAG is in place, the Fri venue is partially secured for the meal and swap.

Will try to work with another BF member to coordinate a swap on Friday night, and perhaps a captive dining room and/or courtyard for afterwards on Saturday. I'm starting to learn the "rules" by which the Walker House is run.

Cool. My friend Greg just canceled his reservation at the Walker House, so another room may be available there. Of course, that may be the room that you got, Hodgykins?

Dinner at the Brewpub on Friday night?

So- is there a swap meet then? Would it be at the Walker House (one of the more haunted inns in Wisconsin, apparently...)

It's a year off, I have no idea. Very possible. The Walker House isn't haunted; that's one of the Chicago riders looking in the bar for Blatz.

Meet at the beer tent after the ride to make plans. Hope your ride goes well and safe travels. No chip timing this year so we all just got faster!

What are you thinking? I'm thinking I need to make this a primary event and plan my summer around it. Adding it to the 2015 calender now (while haunting this thread vicariously).

In some of your opinions, would this event be feasible as a day trip from the Milwaukee area (similar distance from Chicago) ? I'm thinking probably not feasible as a day trip, but maybe.

(curious about the Walker house rules)

Any of you can feel free to give me a monthly reminder to keep on track. Looking forward to this year's ride reports and pictures, and how everyone's gearing choices worked for them.

(curious about the Walker house rules) It is a private facility that acts sort of as a hotel. It has a very nice kitchen and restaurant and bar, but they are private. One idea is organizing a post-ride dinner there, and ask them to have the bar open. They do book rooms much like a hotel, but it's definitely not something on PriceLine or Orbitz. It's an 1839 building, and actually owned by the venerable University of Chicago. There is a strong connection between Land's End (host of the DD), the artistic community that thrives in Mineral Point, and Chicago. Underlying all that is a courtesy and friendliness that is hard to beat.

Any of you can feel free to give me a monthly reminder to keep on track. Looking forward to this year's ride reports and pictures, and how everyone's gearing choices worked for them.
Stay tuned to this thread is probably the best idea.

The new route this year was a nice change. It added in a killer hill near the end, which required me to dive into my granny bail out (along with the wall in Governor Dodge). I rode my VO Rando, with the 40 (middle ring) x 28 rear was enough for the rest.

My friend Will and I met up with Hodgykins and his family last night and enjoyed a few nightcaps on the patio. The owners went home and just told us to help ourselves to the beer

Headed out in the 0745 wave and met up with Barretscv during the ride. The 100k was tough, but doable, and managed it a faster pace than the last few years. We spent a few hours in the beer tent afterward with Chrome Molly and some other folks, and are back at the Walker House now, and will head into Madison for dinner soon.

Not as many C and Vers here this year, as most folks went to the Bartali ride a few weeks ago. But, it's still been a great weekend, and I'm glad that we came.

Already looking forward to next year....

It was awesome to see you, Will and Pete again. Sorry I missed Mike. I was somewhat disappointed. I left at 6:45 and did not get to do the 200 as I am not nearly has fast as Pete (then again who is ). I ran slow and did the 150. I did compare my route last year with this year and was surprised at the difference. Last year over 200 K I climbed 5700; this year in the 150 it was just over 8800. My Paramount was geared nice, but I guess I spent too much time chatting at the stops. I will have to spend less time chatting and more time riding to make the 3:00 cut off of the longer routes.

Walker House was lovely as usual. Mom Kathy and Dad Dan were on hand to make sure we were well taken care of. Even put my girls to work on Saturday serving hors d' oeuvres for the evening Reunion Party (paid for our cocktails on Saturday evening...does that mean I pimped the kids out for liqueur? Feeling ok with the whole thing

Hoping next year we take over the Walker House as a group again. The patio is so nice, and improvements keep coming.
