idmataya, and my cousin Laura, at present, have expressed interest. Darryl may alter his route to accommodate. He is in Mt Horeb

I'll likely be too tired Thursday evening to ride, but would be happy to connect with someone for the Friday morning ride to Mount Horeb. I must admit I find the DNR maps pretty unhelpful (I think they assume you know the area too well), and I can't really match up their contents well with what I can bring up on Google Maps. I'm not sure if there is a good way to get from Middleton to somewhere around Verona so I can hop on the Capital City and/or Military Ridge trails.

Thursday is sounding better by the minute. I am game for that 38.

I'll join in on Thursday.

Those action cameras have taken all the fun out of my limited multilingual skills. I'm family friendly now.

Speaking of video;

We are trying to herd cats here.

OK, let's answer this post, in this format.
Put your name where you can ride.

Thursday, 38 miles, from someplace in Madison? (the post says "continues" but I'm not sure from where.

Friday AM, this is not an either/or. You start where you're at and ride.
Appears there are 3-4 riding west to Mount Horeb, and 3-4 riding east to Mount Horeb.
We meet at the Grumpy Troll and break bread, wind and tell bike lies.
Let us know where you're coming from?

Riding east from Mineral Point or Dodgeville to Mount Horeb.

Riding west from Madison or thereabouts, to Mount Horeb.

Saturday is a bye week.

Sunday, somewhere.

Feel free to write this in.
I'm driving 1127 miles to get there. I'm gonna ride somewhere.

How about organizing using Google Docs? Here is a Sheet I just created that anyone with the link can edit: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...NFk/edit#gid=0

Regarding 38-miles on Thursday-- I proposed starting a Machinery Row Bicycle Shop. Full route: gmap-pedometer.com

I can do AM or late PM.

I'm going to watch for a couple of hours so as not to confuse anyone or myself.....

Hop Garden beer is good, but not phenomenal.

I've read about Karben4 and The Fantasy sounds great. I may have to go to the taproom or have their beer at a pub/tavern.

Skip, I'll check with locals on Middleton to Verona, but county M strikes a chord, nearly a straight shot south.

I'm a maybe for Thursday, and IN for Sunday (especially if it ends at UW Union Terrace !!). I already responded to smontanaro by e-mail about directions from Middleton->Verona. My favorite way south is Timber Lane to Paulson Rd to the Trail. From Middleton, you can get to Timber Lane by going Deming Way to Old Sauk.

ppg's route is fine. I wouldn't take M on a bike, too much traffic.

As a possible alternative, High Point dead ends on Midtown, go right. Left on Woods. Woods dead ends on PD, go right. First left is Nine Mounds. About a half mile after you cross Verona Rd, take right on trail. There are a couple nice hills on this route.

RobbieTunes 08-04-15 07:51 PM

OK, bumping. I am not going to be able to leave early tomorrow, but I'm getting there (lots of work).
That rules out me going on a Thursday AM ride, but I should be there for a PM ride.
Given the low mileage of it, the relaxing route, and some locals who are wanting to go, that's better.

Everything else looks OK. The bikes are in the car, helmets, kit, clean underwear, tire pump, tools.

Sixty Fiver 08-04-15 09:35 PM

If only I had a little more time... I'll be driving back to Canuckistan while the rest of you fine folks suffer on those massive climbs.

I have been riding in the Porcupine Mountains and have been cooling off in Lake Superior of late... and eating my weight in cheese.

:D

Clean undewear? Is that allowed on the DD?

Bump. I'm still working, leaving early tomorrow. No Thursday ride for me. See whomever's there on Friday.

I will be riding toward you on the trail Friday, wearing some kind of vintage jersey. Looks like a decent chance of rain Friday, so I will PM you a contact number should there need to be a change or short-circuit the route. If so, I can get to another meeting place. I can also transport if weather gets too bad, but often you can just dodge showers in summer rains.

bikemig 08-05-15 05:42 PM

63% chance of rain Friday; 40% chance Saturday. Looks like I might be bringing the Bridgestone XO-2 as it has fenders . . . . plus plush tires and a triple, ;)

Sunday is looking good though,

Rode there tonight and back (30mi) enjoyed a sunset and a few Fat Tire's. One of my favorite rides. Although not as good as my One Barrel Brewing ride (on Atwood) Google it as it is a must visit!:)
