I've got a Sports Tourer that I think might be just the thing for 150km. Nice ride being pretty high on the list, and it has pretty serious gears - 40f-34r Plus those nice shifters right up on the stem

Have they posted standings yet?

No timing this year, but I did stand up on that first hill in Gub Dodge....

I found the link to the professional photographers' page, if anyone is interested. I appears I was too busy crushing it to smile in any of mine.

Re: Dare photos... I suspect like a lot of people, I didn't put my bib number where the photographer could see it. I had no idea it was actually used. Their Lost & Found section has over 1900 photos.

OK, 2016 is on.....

General:

https://www.dairylanddare.com/

Aug 13, 2016. I've signed up.

Registration is open, about about 2/3 of what it costs if you wait.

$95 right now, with $10 off using code DLD16FONDO10.
With tax (Wisconsin taxes everything) and fees, right at $98.64
Sounds high, until you get there and realize you get what you pay for.

Limited this year to 1500 riders. Timing is added back, for a Gran Fondo situation.

C&V stuff that is being worked on: Everything is tentative.

1-C&V show Friday from about 2 PM until 9 PM, and Saturday until about 4 PM.

The goal is 100 bikes, less those being ridden. This may rule out the dinner.....
But Wait! Maybe not. We may be able to eat right there, or go in shifts to a nearby spaghetti feed.
So don't despair, we're working on it. Categories are tentative,, under discussion.
Awards are very likely, and all the stuff that goes with showing (placards, etc.)

Needed:
Simple bike stand design I can get made at a reasonable cost so all bikes are on the same stand.
Patches (pamaguahiker comes to mind).
Sponsor(s)
Source for the clip-on placard holders.

2-Swap meet is very likely not going to happen. Detracts from the show and event.
Very limited appeal, not a good venue for it, and just a major PITA that brings freaks, cheapskates, con men.
There are other times and places for something like that, but the Dare is the event, we're just riding along.

3-Ride categories, at least a couple, including L'Eroica purist and at least one other, maybe two.
With timing going on, perhaps fastest. Certainly best-dressed, eh?
Maybe the suffering award...hodgykins, or repairs on the fly....crank_addict or smontanaro....

4-Swag all our own, depending on Dairyland Dare's permission to use logo, etc...
Poster? T-shirt? Cap?

5-Bike photographer. Ken Toda did an amazing job at BAMF, and I'm sure I could find a situation like that.

Our goal is 100 bikes, good swag, and self-supporting so we are a complement to the Dare, not a burden.

I have another goal of 50 C&V riders. This involves getting them there via carpool, vanpool, and lodging.
Working on that. With a show going on, you'd want lodging fairly close.

Just putting this out there. If things solidify, want to have a show Dale Brown would like.
The key to the show is getting collectors to attend. Most of them would likely ride at least 50K and go back to the show.
That seems to be the way they roll. They collect, they ride (within reason) and they are great to talk to.
We would have to work to keep the Paramount folks from picking on each other.

The Dare itself is working on finding a large venue for a pasta meal the night before.
The local high school is quite close, and has a cafeteria. They may opt to help on that and forego a rest stop obligation.
It would be a fundraiser for them, but we'd try to make sure it was restaurant-worthy fare, as well.
This would be open to the entire Dare, because it's about bringing 1500 cyclists together, more than just chatting in the registration line.

I'm sure there are some with ideas, but a PM would be better for those, at this point.

Looking forward to it. I told Pete that I need to finish the 150km next year. I should have a few new bikes to show.

For those who haven't yet registered, here's something to pay attention to. Chrome is telling me this right now:

This seems more than mildly problematic. I'm going to contact them, but @RobbieTunes, can you inquire about that? (I'm sure you can go straight to the source...) I'm going to hold off on completing my registration until this is sorted out.

I'm in. I'll do the 100 km probably. This ride motivated me to buy a new old bike; I picked up a 1984 trek 610.

I bought a pic from the photographer on the ride; it's sitting on my fridge and a good reminder that I need to get in shape.

Gratuitous pic of bike, . I'm pretty stoked by how it rides but then the classic Treks are all pretty fine riders:

I'd like to do this but I'm not sure as of now. I live in PA and don't yet know my plans for the late summer. I do know I was in this part of WI this past August and really enjoyed it. Lots of good beer and food.

Sent to the source, Skip. Appears it does not like "auto-complete."

I did not get this message when I registered, but I do not use auto-complete. My guess is that this is the default message when the site encounters auto-complete, but I know zilch about computers. It took me 10 minutes to get the posted image into my email (it was a bitmap, had to convert it to a .jpg to insert as a picture).

At present, I have one, but I'll back it with a shop sign and jersey. I'd like to have 2 or 3 to show.
Of course, sitting at the back of my display will be the outlaws with the modern components....
I do plan to ride the OEM way, as I have pedals, jersey, and shoes. Perhaps some tube socks.
I may have to find an old Bell helmet....still looking for my period-correct legs.

Not to bump this, but I do want to make it clear that I'm supplying very little of the ideas.
Many of you who have done a couple of Wisconsin rides probably know who the real brain is, here.
I'm just the mouthpiece.

No, feel free to push my post, . The location is part of the reason I picked up the frame. What better place to ride a Trek than a bunch of really tough hills than SW WI?

That means I'll need to do the 150K also.

I'm all registered.

Just did a relatively flat 100K in December, so just need to add 50K and more hills by August. Should be no problem...

I'm in this year. No shortage of appropriate bikes to ride and I've been keeping in shape (first century of 2016 will be January 23rd). We have real hills in VA, so that's not a problem.

150K sounds like a nice day's ride, back in time for a cold craft brew before cleaning up for dinner.
