Right now, it's 53/39 and I can install a 12-34 10-sp rear.
The long-cage 105 RD should be able to handle it.
10-sp DT shifted Dura Ace, Ironman.
I can drop it to a 44/39 crankset, but I've got nothing lower than a 39t, and it's 130BCD, so 38t is as low as it goes.
So, if having a bike is the issue, and you can fit a 56cm, perhaps I can loan you one.

Did I miss the info on the discount code? Still happening, or nay? I'm going to register either way.

If someone is feeling studly, and simply wants to come and eat and ride and have a little fun, I can bring a "normal" geared carbon bike.
53/39--> 11-26. Break it, you buy it. For some, the travel is one thing, but hauling a bike can be a deal breaker.

Hey All...getting ready for the Dare. Did the 150k HHH few weeks back...it was one hell of a tough ride. Walked 3 times as my legs gave out and no air. Hopefully in much better shape for the Dare. Going to the Scenic Shore in 2 weeks but it is flat...Illinois flat, but fun. Working on some gearing issues and a worn out RD on the Paramount, but she likely more than I will be prepared for the fun.

Is this southeast MN? In mid August I will be traveling through MN on I-90 (on my way from PA to Yellowstone NP) and will likely stop at Whitewater SP for a quick trail run. I have been obsessing over MN's state park system for months and it looks great.

If you're near I90 and have your bike along, check out these trails. Easy riding but very scenic. I know the Houston end has free showers for cleaning up post ride.

Good guess. It's actually across from Red Wing, MN along the Trimbelle River in Wisconsin.

Weekly bump. 75 miles today with 4K climb. Lots of heat and whew-midity to deal with. We had a storm roll through last night, so wound up adding to the ride's excitement factor by having to bunny hop a downed line on a downhill. Fortunately looked to be phone or cable as I went over it, but at the time I didn't know so the old BMX skills learned in grade school were called upon. A couple more pics.
A couple pics from the tops of some short but steep hills

Hope you're all getting some riding in before the DD.

My preparation so far has just been my daily commute to work on my fixie, most weeks four or five days, though as I live in Flatlandia, my 28-mile round trip has perhaps 25 feet of climbing. I did swim in Lake Michigan today for the first time this summer. No hills though, not even a stinkin' overpass...

I rebuilt my bike last week (new bar and stem and new crank). It looks like it will work out fine but it's not like there are a lot of climbs to train on in central IA, .

My advice is to just get fit. It won't work for me, but should for everyone else. My prep this week is riding on the NC Outer Banks, tailwind one way, headwind the other, out and back. I did tackle a high-rise bridge with a 2' railing and very little shoulder, but once over that was enough.
The bb in my carbon bike is making so much noise, it's driving me nuts. Can't wait to get back to my C&V steel for the next 2-3 weeks.

Almost seem's everyday we get a good thunderstorm, fun trying to dodge them and get a ride in.
I'm gaining confidence for a bike knocking on 60 years old. Hesitant to say but think to finally have it dialed in. For my daily routine 30 mile loop, only using three of the four cogs (15-21t) and range 74 to 94 inch. Spinning out sometimes but thats just fine. Safely governs speed..lol.
For the old bike, my 30.5 mile loop's with speed bump elevation gain of 1017 ft., low wind days, I'll average 15.7 mph. Could step it up but I'm more conservative and playing safe. Cottered aluminum crank baby! Plus on some of those grades at the DD, most certainly will need my lowest 54 in.
