Velox Plastilac bar tape?
Folks
Any thoughts or experience with old Velox Plastilac plastic bar tape?
I saw some online, NOS, in white.
I'm trying to figure out a good white wrap for my Le Champion, I have cotton on now but even after shellacking it gets too dirty. Cork is out as that stuff gets dirty real quick. I thought maybe the Fizak stuff, but I'm curious about the Velox Plastilac.....I would wrap it over the existing cotton probably so it would have some cushion.
Anyone ever use it?

Simple fact: White gets dirty.
How many coats of shellac have you applied to the cotton? (I usually apply six or seven coats myself - basically, until there is clearly a protective coating.) Properly finished, dirt on shellac wrap should just wipe right off. Then, whenever the coating begins to look worn, just add another coat... should last for years. I think shellac wrap is marginally more comfortable than Velox, myself.

I haven't used that particular brand, but I have had white plastic barwrap on a bike or two. It was sold as "Buckeye" brand tape if I remember correctly.
Easy to clean, held up well to the elements, it didn't yellow with age either. Obviously, pretty slick if you have sweaty hands and provided no padding whatsoever.
