    look kg 171 team

hi guys, I just bought the Look KG 171 team road bike.

I can't find the specific unit thru the net, can anyone help me regarding unit make, year made..

What is the general experience with this frame? Any problems? I am a medium built, about 79kg, is the frame suitable for me?

What is the experience with Look as a brand?

Is this manufactured in Look USA or Look Europe? or is this from an asian manufacturer?

Please let me know if you have any experience.

Big thanks for viewing and replying.

    I like Looks.

Post this on the retro forum for roadbikereview.com The administrator is somewhat of an expert on old Looks.

That's a 52? Most I have seen are yellow (there are red and blue ones)or known as Jalabert specials. Google Jalabert look KG 171 or ONCE look. The Kg 171s are all hand made in France. Great product but you like your bike very stiff, buy a Cannondale alum. (raced on one for several seasons). The ride on the look is lively and, should I say, soft which I loved. I raced on it for several years back in the late 90s. It held up fine. After that, it was the bike I would grab if I were going to get beat up by a bunch of hammer heads on a long drawn out (70 or miles)training ride. No creeks except for the BB. Teflon tape took care of that. Check out my screen name, that will tell you how much I like the 171. Let me know if there's any thing you need to know.

You can send an email to
siteinternet@lookcycle.fr they might send you the catalog in pdf (At least they did when I asked about the 1990 KG56).
They still make great bikes, all done in France.

I was told that only some of the top end frames were build in France. The rest of them are made across the channel in northern Africa somewhere.

    By the way what's the number you've mentioned...the 52?
