Rear Drop outs-How far can I go?

I have a Schwinn Super Le Tour with a 6 speed freewheel. It is a early 80's bike. I was wondering how far can the rear drop outs be spread? I am considering doing some upgrades.
    Thanks!

I had a super le tour with 9 speed Tiagra, was easy and didn't have to stretch the frame much at all.
Although, now that I think of it? I remember it seemed to have a flex issue? The chain would rub the FD with very little effort. Aside from a few nicks mine was a garage queen. You may have better luck.,,,,BD

I picked up a rescue frame/fork that had obviously been stolen and sadly abused prior to finding it's way to my abused bike shelter that had the rear dropouts spread to just under 145mm but if you're careful you won't need to push it that far....

It's probably 126mm already, if so you may not have to cold set it to get a 130mm hub in there.
