1993 Bridgestone XO-3
I got this frame and fork in a trade with another C&V member last fall and it is finally finished.
The goal was a fast rough stuff/light tourer and I think it worked out.
Frame and fork is the 1993 XO-3 which has a nice flat crown fork, Ishiwata triple butted frame and it shares the geometry and 26inch wheels with the XO-1 of that year. It is road geometry with room for 1.9 x 26 tires and has the same tube set as the XO-2 and RB-2 of that year. I think it is a really nice bike that is not often noticed because of the intensity of the XO-1 following.
The build is based on my favorite stuff and has many vintage parts and stuff from the parts bin.
New: Nitto 48cm noodles and Technomic stem. Brooks B-17 Special, Compass tires, Wellgo low profile platfrom pedals (CNC cages and cartridge bearings), Tektro wide profile cantis.
Old:
Wheels are vintage Ritchey off of a 96 Stumpjumper
Cranks are some weird LX model from the lat 90s I think. I like the look, they are super light and have very little wear so the propitiatory rings shouldn't be a problem for a while. Tange BB and NOS XT 8-speed cassette.
Recent-ish LX rear, NOS Suntour XC-Comp Front, running friction off of the Suntour ratchet shifters.
Shimano 600 levers.
And: the ugly green cables from veloorange
I always wanted one of these 26inch Bridgestones and the ride does not dissapoint. It is much stiffer than other vintage touring bikes I have built over the years and I highly recommend both the brakes and tires. It is much faster and lighter than it looks but it can also handle some off-road trails with ease.
I love it. Thanks to BF for the community!

I traded a late 80s Schwinn High Sierra frame and fork and some parts to be used as a touring bike build.

Thanks, the cable color is growing on my but it really looked like dark forest green on the website and in person it is more of a teal. No big deal.

The trade happened through the "Frame doesn't fit pass it around" thread. And it did come from NO. It was originally purchased at The ALT bike shop in Minneapolis. Weird because I used to go there (it was one block from my place) in 93-94 and lust after the Bridgestones which I could not afford. Cool to think that I may have seen this bike there almost 20 years ago.

Very cool shop at the time, right down the road from Flanders Brothers.
Lots of cool bikes and local lore came from that shop.
