French Lesson of the Week II - More Motobecane Treasures from NNJ
First, a Merci to the many members of C+V forum who helped identify last week's Motobecane. I am amazed by the knowledge and enthusiasm of the contributors.
This bike is not as exciting for the C + V crowd as last week's Series Course C-41, but as dirty as the C-41 was, this Inter Club tandem is immaculate and the odometer shows under 240 miles. I realize it is 2040 hi tensile, etc., but it has perfect paint, polished aluminum, shiny chrome rims, and check out the Avocet saddle condition. And it was nearby and priced right.
What I don't understand though, is in such a heavily ethnic Italian area, right in the midst of all the Sopranos locations, including Tony's house, where are the Italian bikes? French bikes are easy to come by, almost like Huffys and Magnas!
Uploading soon: My first mail order ebay bicycle. A 1960's Peugeot.

Clean bike. A guy I ride with took an InterClub tandem and made a triplet out of it for he and his kids.

Wow, great condition. Earlier this year, I bought an Inter Club, that had been left outside, locked to a fence, for several years.... Amazingly, the frame paint was good.
Bike screams for barcons. I went with LePree derailleurs, as the originals were heavily rusted. Drum brake was long gone unfortunately.
Mine in finished condition (I need to round up a couple of matching saddles):

Please don't confuse ebay "asking" prices with "selling" prices. Many sellers never get their ask price. some are far from it. Value is determined once an item actually SELLS. Its easy enough to check SOLD prices.

I have been looking at tandems, and this seller didn't put the word tandem or bicycle built for two in his ad, so it had been languishing out there for a month. Given what sellers want for the heavyweight Schwinn tandems, the gas pipe tandems, and $750 for an identical bike on ebay near my Michigan home, this was a steal and in far better shape.
