i hear you. but they sent me four rims, two perfect, and two with slightly separated seams... so why not get 'em replaced? i just can't justify spending good money on something new that's not perfect. if the defectives were heavily discounted, i might build 'em up.

one of 'em also has scratches all over it. that's not professional.

i need to start buying my sun rims from a local source.

I understand. My Ambrosio Nemesis rims had some white paint or something splattered in in one or two areas, just really fine dots of it... I also found an area on one rim where the acid looked like it hadn't been cleaned off properly before anodizing, just a really minor irregularity in the smooth surface of the rims...

I think it might also be something to do with wholesalers and retailers being rough on stuff, shipping, etc etc. I didn't send them back because they came from Northern Ireland and I live in New Zealand... Guitar picks are great at removing unprep'd paint such as that which I discovered. If I had gotten them locally I'd have hand picked them myself...

Can I assume that "Spock" is a misspelling of "Spoke", or do they say, "live long and prosper" when you turn them on?

I assume so. It's almost as funny as the name Letdooö!

Finally got a "proper" C&V project, complete with stuck seatpost, bent cotter pins, rust, and more. I've been looking for an interesting challenge and it looks like I have found it.

I know it is a low-end model, but it will be nice to work on a low-pressure and low-budget project for a change.

What came in the mail for me wasn't anything special, but when I saw it on eBay for $5, I couldn't say no.

Spins as nicely as one could hope.

Last night I received a replacement spring tension bolt for a Suntour Cyclone GT 1st generation RD and a strange looking washer. I had rounded off the old one in a hamfisted move while frustrated, and to my surprise, the replacement NOS one is a slightly different design. It looks like the folks at Suntour recognized the problem and addressed it.

I also bought a tool last week to remove broken/rounded off bolts and screws. Worked like a charm.

There's some friction in the cage movement that I need to address. The GT model is kind of tricky.
