Fuji Opus III - Update Complete

I bought this bike for my son 5 years ago. Here's that thread.

https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...III?highlight=

As encouragement for him riding more, I asked him to let me do a little update on it. Here's the result.

The overall cosmetic changes were driven by the replacement of the Superbe/Gran Compe DT friction-shifting running gear
with the Shimano Ultegra/600 Tricolor 8 speed STI group. It's a very beautiful and harmonious fit, I think.

Hope everyone enjoy the pics.

Awesome steel-framed racing bike! I, too, owns one. I bought it as a frame in April 1984 and assembled it with Campy components, then Dura-Ace. I rode countless miles on this great bike, both in training and in racing. Twenty eight years later and I am still in "love" with my Opus III. Thanks for sharing such beautiful pictures of your bike.

You'll note this is second iteration. First was near catalogue rebuild. I installed the STIs to make it "easier" for my son to ride. To encourage him to ride more.

STI's on an Opus, a Fuji crime!

Some links to mine.

The '86 has gone to another C&V member, with regrets.

It can be put "right" again, you can be sure. The Superbe group is moth balls.

Still, I think the Tri color group is just as beautiful and fitting. In this case more practical, as well.

BTW, I don't like the cant on the RD as shown in the first pic. It has been corrected.

Several things:
1-The tricolor group is great.
2-The build, as usual from afilado, is tasteful and pretty.
3-His son is my size, so looking at these builds, well, thoughts of theft arise...have to admit.
