I have a 1986 Inronman Dave Scott edition Centurion that needs some love (cracked rear hub, missing teeth on the rear, 6-speed cassette, etc). Any reason why these wouldn't work for me?

Yes... but since you didn't already know that, I'm guessing you don't want tubulars.

If I was in your shoes, I'd get them, but not everyone will agree with me, because they're tubular.

I'd offer $100 on the wheelset because they're tubular and the market is teeeny-tiny for those.
Then spend $25 on Tufo tape. Then get the best tubulars you can afford. I like Tufo's, but not everyone does.

You may end up with close to $200 involved. Balance that cost against the clincher wheelsets available.
They're out there, and clinchers may make better sense in the long run.

I'm running some on a modern Kestrel with modern 10-sp wheels, just fine.
They will look like clinchers, roll very nicely, and be a little bit hard, but nowhere near as hard as the Ironman's original 700x19 Technova's.

^I've been wanting to try tubulars, so if it was me I would buy them too. It even has a freewheel that will plug right in to your index system.
