Univega Mixte rebuild.
I came across this Univega Mixte for free recently and plan to rebuild it to kill some spare time. I will likely end up selling flipping it or giving it to a friend. I'm looking for some ideas on what to do? The bike hase a really nice 20inch frame a nice Suntour VGT shift group and some pretty nice Araya red label 27 inch rims. But the bars and brakes are pretty screwd up and it has soso crank set. Some Ideas I have toyed with are to build it as a nice vintage 12speed with nice drops likly aero I have a set and levers. Another is to do it as a single speed with either drops or strait bar I have most of the parts. The last is to do it with strait bars and modern grip shifters as a 12 speed I have all the parts in almost new condition on a another donor bike I found. So any any ideas from you guys as to how you would like to see this one built up and maybe which would sell best or my Lady friends may like?

Still learning
What's screwed up about the existing bars and brakes? I've probably sold in excess of 20 Mixtes and there is a 80-90 percent preference for an upright riding posture, meaning north road style touring bars. A straight bar would look cool, but not when you try to put a wicker basket it on it.
That blue works well with the all white saddle, grips, cable housings, and whitewall tire accents.
Also, if someone from the foothills areas were to buy it, they'd want/need gears.

Well the bars and levers are rusty steel and very low end and close 20 years older than the bike and none workable and rusty. Thanks for the advice Oddjob I may consider keeping the bars, maybe even putting the grip shift stuff I have on them.
