Huret Multito - spot on accurate
I did the Waterford factory tour ride Saturday. It was just shy of 70 miles which included a couple wrong turns. We started at the Waterford factory and headed to lake Geneva and over to Fontana and then zig-zagged back to Waterford. Its a great little ride, FREE, and Richard Schwinn is host and sag support in one. They do these rides a few times a year, the last one coming up in October.
We were given que sheets that give you the route, and mileage. I just followed along hoping the others knew where they were going. At the half way point I was curious to see if my Huret Multito was accurate. I asked another rider what his computer read for mileage. After 32 miles I was within .2 miles of what his computer/gps was reading. I had gotten somewhat lost just short of the rest stop, after being dropped on a hill, so figured I had done a couple tenths of a mile trying to find the route. At the end of the ride I checked again with the other rider and sure enough my Multito was spot on.
I was riding 27" wheels with 27x1 Pasela tires. Great little device that Multito.

It is the luck of the draw with the Multito. You need the right tire on the right rim and a fresh belt and no excessive humidity. I can however be very accurate. They also last and last. I had one click over two full times before faltering. I have another on a tandem that has already clicked over and is still running strong more than 30 years later.

I just picked up one off of epay to go on one of my vintage bikes. I have no clue which wheel size it is for, but I am hoping 700c The package wasn't marked as to size, but for what I paid I really don't care.

There are two parts of the pulley on the Multito. The smaller pulley is for 26" tires, the larger for 27" tires. I would think the larger one would work on 700c tires. Try it out against a gps device or gps on your phone. See how accurate it is. I think i just lucked out withe the 27" Pasela tires.

That's pretty surprising. I have one installed but never actually checked or verified the mileage info on it. This thread does remind me though, I have a spare Multito and a 27in wheeled bike to install it on. I could also toss on my wireless computer and test them against each other.
