I can't (as yet) convince myself to snag bikes for grandkids when my oldest is only 16.
I was walking along today with my 10mo in his papoose, past a couple of houses where three kids were playing on Striders or equivalent while their parents watched. My mind said "File that away... they won't need those much longer."

Respectable. Not as nice as the ones @delcrossv recently posted, but respectable.

I recently found a 1981 Fuji SJ-10 and built it up for my 11-year-old daughter. Purchase price was $50, but as often happens, one thing led to another, and... Well, who cares. She loves it, and it'll always be the bike dad built for her.

A whole lot of parts wound up getting replaced, in large part because the originals were in rough shape. The bike originally came with 26" x 1 1/4" (597) wheels, but for sake of tire selection (and better wheels), I built a set of 650c wheels for it. Paint and decals were shot, so I had it powder coated and my daughter got to pick the color.

Not a road bike, not especially small, at least not once they invented sloping top tubes. Wonder how it would look with slicks and drops, though? Posted due to interesting frame triangle. I believe this is an 11" size. Standover is, obviously, roughly 24"

my 9yr old's nishiki century, it's a little big for him, but there is no way i can keep him off it. rode it 12 miles on memorial day with no complaints.. set it up with aero levers, cross levers and index stem shifting, dual pivot brakes, also swapped the bulky 24" steel wheels, with a pair of 650c wheels. ignore the cob job water bottle holder, he doesn't have mounts for one, and it was quickest way to get one set up for the ride he was happy so thats all that matters.

It doesn't appear that that Wilier from a few posts up ever sold, which is kinda sad. I realize it's priced at the high end of the spectrum, but I personally think its coolness and rarity make up for it. If I didn't already have a 20" kid's bike, I would have grabbed it myself

I wonder what the reserve was. I really dig the Herse-esque chain ring.

Came across this a while back. No-one to ride it, but I thought it was so cute, that I bought it anyway.

Currently up for sale here, a Legnano 'Bambino'. 47cm frame, so I'm guessing those wheels are 24". Talk about cute:

Neat. Looks like you can get one on eBay Italy for about US $600, but shipping will probably set you back another $100+.

Yikes. At that price you might as well build up a Soma Bart/Lisa.
