Really irritating as they trigger full page pop ups when you just happen to roll your mouse pointer over them. Now I have to navigate my mouse around the page like it's a minefield!
Can we vote these things out of the forums someway??

I noticed those several months ago, but they disappeared and I haven't seen them since. Thankfully.
Yes. Count me in as a vote for s**t-canning them.

I am a member, and I still see these things. in fact there's a roll over ad right now for "Oogieloves" kid's stuffed toy dolls, right next to my first post on this thread like it's kinda taunting me......Unless these ads are specific from where in the country I am posting from.....

Install adblock.

If you're using IE, switch to Chrome or Firefox.

You don't have the little yellow jersey next to your username, which indicates your paid member status.

you are not a paid member. Well, if you are they forgot to give you a badge or take away the ads, which doesn't seem to make sense.

Uhmmmm...I didn't know I had been a "freeloader" at BF all this time as I did not even notice/remember any requirement or option to pay membership fees when I signed up. I guess I have to look into that too....

I'm not a paying member either (although I should probably become one!) and I don't see the rolling ads. I'm on Google Chrome now and it is much faster, especially since this site has gotten so busy with regular ads. It used to take forever to navigate on IE...

Ah, they've had a paid membership since forever, which enables you to see the site sans ads. At first it was just a one time flat fee, now I think it is a yearly fee. I joined when it was originally instituted. There was a lotta grouching when it first came on, not long after the ads started appearing IIRC. Seemed a reasonable price to pay to moi. I have never had cause to complain.

I think it was good for 30 years when I joined. Now I think it renews every two.

The red star instead of the yellow jersey denotes an old member.

No way. I thought it was for my eternal proletarian devotion to an endless sucession of five year plans.

Off to check for grey hair.

+1, Adblock on Firefox rules, and is a no-brainer to use if you aren't familiar with using filters.

This bothersome ad problem cropped up a few weeks ago. Mods said they weren't from the site, probably from your cookies via some malware. Been a red star member since I signed on but did a new membership anyway, good way to support the place I love coming to.

No problem. You will find that FF is a superior browser in many ways, in addition to all of the add-ons.
