I have an old Elan Racer
I got from the local booty a veey nice condition Elan 10 Elite frame number 565100 it is purple and in great condition with cotterpin cranks and the gears are Simplex which I used to have on a bike back in the 50s so donno how long Simplex gears went on for, anyone any ideas as to the age of this bike a wild stab would be ok , rides well and looks even better it has down tube shifters of course. oh yes the wheels ate stamped Semperit Made in France . . .
