Leather saddle bags
I just got 2 hand made leather saddle bags
both made by rootboy. Boy are they junk!
I mean they really stink!!!!!
Sorry, I just don't want you guys to send in your orders and back the delivery time up.
They are VERY nice, well made and worth more than he is charging! ....errrr..... I mean not worth a penny!
He was very easy to work with and once I figure out how many bikes I have, I will try to order a couple more!
Thanks

PICS, or it didn't happen JR
Thanks JR. Very happy you like them. Yes, they are worth more than I'm charging for them, so I'm happy you guys got in on my introductory pricing launch. Seriously, I'd like to charge more for them, and probably will if I continue this endeavor, but I also like being able to sell them here in this great community as opposed to trying to flog them on ebay.
I really need to settle on one design though. Maybe two. This inventing and building them as I go along thing is fraught with dangers and too time consuming. Mistakes are always a part of that kind of process though and I really enjoy doing them.
Stay tuned for bag design #4, a diminutive wedge for Drillium Dude and his pesky 3ttt saddle. Not sure if I'll wait for him to out it or post pics myself.
Thanks JR, for the support and purchases, and to Aaron KonSnake too, as well as Drillium Dude, for making this project fun and worthwhile.

When you get rich and famous, you know like Grant Peterson, or that guy, Jan Heine.
We can say we knew him when!!!
Good stuff you make! Good stuff indeed!

I am awaiting arrival of my small wedge, and will dedicate a thread to it - have no fear, it will get its due attention
BTW, I recognize that round bag - and I know personally how well it's made! My "pesky 3ttt saddle" wouldn't allow it to fix to the rail design, however, so jr59 is now the lucky owner
Since the wedge is certainly going to work (I sent Scott one of my 3ttt saddles to assist in the attachment design) this go-around, it will end up being my rootboy-original forever after. I'm pumped!

See it's already starting!
Soon it will be like the guy I know who makes custom winter ridding jackets, vest and tights.
It use to be you could call and order his stuff on Monday and have it by the weekend.
It was GREAT. Cheap too! Then I made a mistake and told some guys on another forum about him.
Now it's a 2-3 week wait. Still not bad for full custom, but not like it was!
Now you guys are doing it with Rootboy's bags. DRAT!!!

Thanks guys. I wouldn't worry too much, JR, about lead time. Folks aren't exactly beating down my door for these. yet.
You'd think they'd get cheaper the smaller they are, Puchfinnland, but it aint so, I'm afraid. I found they're harder to make than the bigger ones! I was thinking of showing D. Dude's small wedge here but I'll let him out it. And hats off to Jeff for loaning me his saddle so I could figure out a suspension system, a tough nut for me on all bags, it seems, but doubly so on a very small bag.
Time to make a custom bag to fit my VO Constructeur rack. Thanks again for all the support, gang.

May be, JR, but I'm running out of black leather and waiting on a sample from a vendor to see if I can find the same stuff as used on the other bags. The VO Constructeur rack is pretty small, but I like it. based on an old Alex Singer design I think. I might make mine slightly larger than the one shown. I'll have to visit the LBS to see how big a U lock is.

I once watched an old saddle maker in action myself. Now, there is a whole 'nuther level of expertise. Phenomenal what those guys can do with leather.
