Rainy Sunday: My New (Not so new) Titanium Merckx
5 Attachment(s)
Picked this up second hand from a racer trying to thin his herd. He was originally selling a Cinelli Supercorsa with 10spd Centaur and I missed out on that one, but he told me about his Eddy Merckx Titanium EX with a record group and C-Record Delta brakes so I thought missing the Cinelli wasn't such a bad idea. Anybody can tell me more about this bike?

Ride quality is a cross between the carbon and steel. Second hand C&V for the win! -JC |
Some of Merckx's ti frames were designed by Eddy but built by Litespeed in the US. Eddy later on made ti in his own factory in Belgium but I've never seen a Belgium built ti merckx. There may be a sticker on the seat tube stating if it was built by litespeed. Very nice bike.

I guess a 90 mile ride means it's comfortable. Do you usually ride bikes that are so small for you?
|
In photo #2 I think you can see the Litespeed decal.

I don't know that much about Litespeed, other than that they made lots of Ti frames. Eddy must have had such an affinity with the company that he entrusted a frame bearing his name to a builder outside of his own factory! Thanks for sharing the video.

Oh cool. I've got the ax version of the same era. I love this thing, but I don't ride it as much as I should. Do you know what the difference is between the ex and the ax?

Needs a titanium quill stem.

Excellent score. IMHO, Ti is second to none.
Oh, and don't pay any attention to the seat post police. They haven't been able to touch their toes for a loooong time, if ever. |

Fantastic bike. Looking for one like it in my size. Nice build too.
