How much should it cost to......

get mounts for downtube shifters welded on? I'm looking at a vintage CBS frame, but it was built originally for bar end shifter i'm assuming. Just two little loops per side, I guess for housing? Anyways, one is broken, so I thought while you're getting something fixed on it, might as well make it the way I want! The place that has it has a frame builder that does a lot of work for them, and they are going to ask him, but thought I should at least have a starting idea.

Thanks!!

Bar end shifters would be my first thought. Or clamp-on downtube.

The brazing on of shifters is rather cheap, I think I have seen prices sheets quaoting $15-25. The expensive part is shipping and repainting.

I'd get the clamp-ons that I've seen on line. One of those guys there has a ton.

If you're going to be messing with the frame, it seems less destructive to remove the DT stops and touch up the little place left over than discolor the area needed for DT braze-ons.

And that's why I ask you all these things! Never even crossed my mind to do clamp on! I was even thinking not long ago that I wanted a clamp-on shifter on something.
