High flange hub war: Campagnolo Nuovo Record v. Dura Ace, which is better

My 1978 Trek was purchased with Campagnolo Nuovo record high flange hubs for 5 speed freewheel and 121mm rear spacing. The rest of the bike has Shimano Dura Ace, including the brakes, headset, shifters, and front derailleur.

I'm considering exchanging the High Flange Campagnolo Nuovo Record/Mavic wheelset for a vintage High Flange Dura Ace/Mavic wheelset that I had built a few years ago. I sold this wheelset, along with my 1974 Paramount. The current owner of the Paramount is willing to switch wheels.

It could be a happy exchange, providing me with an all Dura Ace bike and him with an all Campagnolo Nuovo Record bike.

Or should I just keep the Campagnolo Nuovo Record/Mavic wheelset?

Any opinions on early "sheriff star" Dura Ace high flange hubs?

I stick to Camapagnolo myself, but I'd guess the Dura Ace is just as good.

The original Dura-Ace bearing races are soft in comparison to Campagnolo and do not last as long. The outside is anodized on the Dura-Ace which may or may not be an advantage. If I had a full Dura-Ace groupset apart from the hubs, I would like trade to get them, notwithstanding the softer races.

Yes, I'll do the trade. The Dura Ace wheelset was near new and recently serviced when I sold the bike. The new owner uses them often, but is a mature rider and a skilled mechanic, so I'm sure they are as good as new. The Campagnolo Nuovo Record/Mavic wheelset is also in good shape, but I would want to rebuild the set.

Campy is better. Dura Ace hubs didnt equal or exceed Campagnolo untill the 'new' 7400 series Dura Ace was introduced in '85.

And you can still find cups, cones and axles for Campy, try that for Dura Ace.
