If your siblings rode bikes.......

I figure there's a few replies in this.....If I had to buy them each one for Christmas, here's what I'd do:

Older sister-nurse: a three-wheel industrial bike, for safety. In white, with white soft tires that are quiet.
Next older sister-bank customer rep (and Dairyland Dare cook): a red/white Schwinn cruiser, w/a bell and straw basket.
Younger sister-executive assistant: Republic mixte, in black. No lock; as it won't get ridden, just spoken of.
Younger brother-interior design/architect: Raleigh Sports, repainted in dark blue and creme, 9 locks (Philly).
Youngest brother-Line crew foreman, Packer fan: Green and gold Surly Pugsley

If I could find a bike suitable for Jabba the Hut, I'd pick one up for my older brother.

My older brother: Corporate exec. living in Corona - Colnago with tubulars....It'd look cool in his office which is about as far as it would ever travel.

Older Sister: kids are grown, she lax'ing at the Shore House while she remodels it for year-round use - Pahsley Princess so I can ride behind her doing the music from the Wizard of Oz...she's already got the Toto dog

My brother is as into biking as I am. He doesn't have a bike fetish like me and he's not really into vintage, although he does have a nice Duarte (Colombian) Tour de l'Avenir. He just bought a Trek 1000 for recreational rides but he could use a good credit card tourer because he does a lot of that. It could have a steel frame but would have to have modern components. I don't even know what they make these days, it seems like you have to spend at least $2000 before you get anything remotely interesting. Maybe a Riv or something like that.

My sister is not so into biking but she does love old retro stuff, so she's cheaper and easier on this. A vintage balloon-tired single-speed would tickle her fancy, and she lives in Miami where the only climbs are freeway passes.

Oldest sister is a super-genius hippie that would ride some type of U0- 8 variant with some crazy gearing system controlled by plants.

Middle sister, lawyer would ride a Orient, chauffeur driven on busy days.

Youngest sister (still older) mother/exec would not ride but she would drive along side in a car and scream orders to pedal harder.

Younger brother would ride a Harley or Indian with steel pipes bent into circles for tires, a gun turret, beer holder and place for his ***** (b word).

my older brother is so picky, his ideal bicycle does not exist. super light carbon frame with beautiful ornate steel lugs. carbon rims with campy high flange hubs 16.5 speed freewheel. electronic shifting but with downtube shifters. priced under $150 shipped to his door already assembled and adjusted to his size.

Older brother wants some small Italian marque that he can talk about while drinking fine wines and musing about the Italian countryside. Riding would be out of the question.

Next older brother wants something like a team issue CF bike which he would put cross tires and aero lay down bars on then ride it down rail trails.

Cousins want something expensive and flashy, so they could buy all the related jerseys and spandex this and that. They would send me post cards of it from Aspen.

Dad wants something with lots of flashing red and orange lights. Also, a full body helmet. All preferably from Fleet and Farm.

Mom wants a three wheeler from Talbots. Her mechanic would have to have a waiting area with an espresso machine, and wear a lab coat.

Just bought my nephew a Fuji Track (used). Fixed gear, toe clip pedals, front brake only, drop bars. Just enough wear/tear for his semi-conscious friends to give it street cred.

His dad put regular pedals on it, added a freewheel to the other side, and a rear brake, too.

Kind of spoiled my mental image of the first header... but he'll probably live longer.

My brother is incredibly practical and a teacher; so would want something to get him to classes safely. But his classes are a fairly decent distance from his house. So I'd say perhaps an old Trek 520, Miyata LT1000 or a Salsa Casserole if he preferred something on the newer side.
BTW, the gold and green Pugsley and Republic killed me. Nicely done.

my younger brother does ride a bike.

It's a Miele SLX Frame with white and red paint with gold flaking. He has it decked out with c-record derailleurs, aero campy seat post, campy wheelset and since this picture he has added more c-record to the bike

I actually build a pug mixte for my sister (education student). No pics, she rode it like a bat out of hell all over town before we gave up on it on account of the horrible rigida steel rims and the sorry state of the frame. She then went out all by herself and bought his ultra cute peugeot road bike, which I helped to adjust it just perfect for her. She loves it. Plus, she now know hows to set up a bike for her size, since I talked her through all the rules and tips of fit. You see what I did here? So now she can buy, fit and best of all ride a C&V... As soon as she starts to wrench, the conversion to the dark side is complete! Now she's already thinking of her next bike, something with wider tires and less gears and a more upright position, yet still fast and zippy. I'm thinking SS MTB, and I already have the perfect frame+controls and brakes, an Univega Alpine. Winter project for when I get back to the low countries.

My brother does ride. He's on an older Cannondale R400 with a ridiculous mix of 3x7 components. He's a dental student in Richmond, VA so one doesn't want the bike to garner much attention. I've still helped him out a bit with cables, tape, and the like. This past year for Christmas I set him up new yellow fizik tape and yellow jagwire cabling to go with the extant purple-ish sparkle paint and yellow michelin tires paired with yellow saddle. It looks nice, but not too nice. I threw in some maintenance as well since he doesn't do any. I've never seen so much road grime in my life...
